anyone know if anyone has tried to make a handmade fender eliminator? from parts that can be purchased from home depot or automotive place?

A FE is not that hard of a thing to do, depending on how comfortable you are grinding and cutting stuff. Depends a lot on what model you are doing it on also. Try a search on the subjest and see what you come up with.

Search for Blue Fox's "Raccoon Tail" I believe it should be in the How To section.

I made my own using the stock fender, a belt sander and some paint. Though, I purchased a tag bracket instead of making my own........it only cost $30 bucks though.

unfortunately i dont have pics at this time but it was really simple, i took the stock stuff off, and there should be a metal bracket that the plate and frame bolt to, it should have two legs off the top of it that have bolt pegs, bolt the plate to the bracket, there will be some excess metal on either side of the plate that i cut flush with the plate for looks, i bent the legs on top of themselves so that the pegs were stickin straight up. I positioned it unter my battery box, i drilled two holes into the plastic battery box and re used the nuts from the old setup to secure it, all i had two buy is a led liscence plate light that bolts rite into one of the holes on the plate, (about 10 bucks). Ive had it on my bike for about 2 years and it works great. Ill try and get pics up soon.

That zip tie will not last long.....and you will probably have to buy a replacement plate, if thats the only thing connecting the plate to the exhaust clamp. When I first got my bike, I didnt even think about checking how tight the plate was fastened before I went out. Needless to say, I'm on my third liscense plate. After i got the second plate, I made sure to tighten the plate as much as possible and even threw on 4 zip ties and somehow the damn thing still came off.

I have recently started making some fender eliminator's for the RR's, its really not that hard. but
if you dont have the tools or time or materials, and would rather just pay somebody a small amount, I would gladly
make one up and ship it out to you.
shoot me a pm if interested.

NIK, I like your idea of using a clamp to secure a custom plate mount to the exhaust pipe...I think I'm gonna go with a similar concept using LED bolts.

Just a thought, use 1mm thick aluminum because 2mm when you bent it it tends to tear little by little instead 1mm which is more flexible.

Forget the previous, Here is another try for license bracket easier & looking better:
1st find the plastic around the battery cover, there you will bolt on the bracket
2nd measure your license plate diamensions, mine is 17cm x 18cm, get a 2mm thick aluminum and cut it like this and a bit smaller than your plate,
put your plate on top of it and mark the holes of the plate, drill the 2 holes for the plate and another 2 for bolting
the bracket on the plastic(pic1) and another 1 for cabletie (just for extra safety)
3rd attach the plate on the bracket, test fit it on the bike and center it, you can bent the aluminum as much as you like, be carefull to have a safety distance from the tire
4th round the edges and paint black
5th bolt on the bike, and use cable ties for extra safety(not to loose the plate) Also you can hot glue the back side
of the plate bolts
It's barely visible from the side!!!!!

im suprised by how noone has said anything about a swingarm mounted tag bracket... I built mine with nuts and bots I bought from home depot and a piece of flat thin steel. It cost me 6 dollars to make and it looks awesome. I also have an intergrated taillight so there is no need for funny looking turn signals hanging off the bike.
