Has anyone gone to GP Style shifting?

So I am interested in doing this on my F4i... is it really easy to do or do I need to buy some parts?

Well you can go 1 of 2 ways, 1, just take your shifter off flip it upside down and cut a tiny spot in the plastic so it works.. poof, free and finished..

or you can spend 150.00-1000.00 on new rearsets that do it and are adjustable ect ect.. your choice.

it's nice once you get used to it but not much total diffrence.

Once I get some trackdays under my belt I will probably do it because it's easier to up-shift in a lean if you need to. But for now I don't have any need for it.

I may get bored one rainy weekend and do it for shits and grins. I just hope I don't forget about it and launch myself with a unintentional downshift.

Like Rojer said, just flip the arm 180* and trim the front sprocket cover.

You may also want to make up a sticket and slap it in the middle of the tach that says "GP SHIFT" just in case you take your bike in for service or (gasp!) allow someone else to ride your baby.

Run a search. There's a mod that allows you to use VFR or Blackbird parts. No cutting necessary.

Think about how cheap sprocket covers are.

I will probably just turn the arm upside down and cut the cover... cause DAMN I loves me a dremel tool! And yeah they're super cheap on eBay if I fubar mine. Thanks for the responses guys.

when i bought mine the guy before me had it turn like that. i tried to get use to it but i have been riding for so long i just couldn't stop hitting the wrong gear. so got tired wasting my time and always having to think which way to shift.

Trivia Info: Mat Mladin uses a standard shift pattern.
