Does anyone know if there's any performance gain by adding header wraps? right now, my bike's stock but i'll be getting my jardine exhaust and PCIII pretty soon. oh yeah, i'll also be doing the flapper mod once i've installed both the exhaust and the PC. any info is greatly appreciated. thanks guys.

The whole deal with header wraps is keeping the intake air cooler. Not really an issue on a bike ... especially when you gots ram air at speed.

Are you going full system or just slip-on? I'm running a 2Bros CF slip-on with the flapper removed and have no issues with throttle response ... didn't need a PCIII. And believe me I wanted one --- just couldn't justify the cost. Got SS brake lines instead

well, i'm getting the jardine rt-one exhaust. correct me if i'm wrong but i believe they only sell the slip-ons. so, what do you guys think? is it even worth getting the wraps?

I added my RT-1 and wraped my pipes. I don't think it made any difference with performance. It just acted like a heat shield. I don't know if I'm going to do the PCIII still debating. I'm going with looks before performance.

if your still looking for header wrap, i have a 18' roll sitting in my closet. brand new. didnt need it for the cage.

Exactly!!! That's what the stuff does. If you put on a new pipe and have issues with it being too close to the plastics then you can use the wrap to keep from melting stuff. Only reason the cagers get a HP increase with the stuff is because it keeps the temp under the hood cooler. Cooler intake air = more HP. I've seen people get a pony extra with wrap on a bike on a dyno. Of course the bike is sitting still baking in its own juices so again the wrap keeps the heat away from the intake air. In the real world if you're going faster than 60mph then the air passing by will keep the heat from the pipes away from the intake (read: fried legs) and you won't benefit HP wise. It can still look cool though.

oh ok. i noticed a couple of you guys didn't get a pc when you installed your exhaust. how was it running? i thought that we'd lose power if we installed an exhaust without a pc?

I definitly didn't lose anything, it runs rich but not to rich for me to buy a PC.

helps keep heat in the pipe for better scavenging effect-i'd have header pipes ceramic coated before i wrapped mine-saw a 01 gixxer750-that came in with wrapped headers- from mgetting wet-kept the pipes wet and rusted right through-phil
