Hi everyone - nice to find what seems like such a great forum! I recently passed my test on my new CBR125 (which I still love). I have decided to keep it for 2 years (while I'm restricted to 33BHP) and then probably look at a CBR600 which I have always liked. In the meantime I will be looking for ways to improve the performance of the 125, so if anyone has any good ideas I'd definitely like to hear them... I've heard a micron scorpion can is a good way to start - any thougts?

Looking forward to getting to know you all...

Welcome to the board! Congrats on your test. You'll have to post some pics of this CBR125. I don't think we have them over here so I'm completely in the dark on performance mods on that model. Anubis might be able to help -- he's from the You Kaye also.

Yes... post the pictures. I'd like to see it. That would suck to be restricted as to what bike you could buy/ride.

Thanks for the warm welcome... this is a pic I found of the bike (mine is identical)...

As you can see it's like the "little brother" CBR... lol But it's really fun to ride and handles excellently. I've ordered a new can for it from micron. As for performance, I think any real gain is a bit of a myth, but one thing I do know is the sound is awesome! I heard one today at the honda dealership and it seriously sounds like a 400 so that's pretty cool. I'm still surprised how good mine sounds with the can that came with it - seems to be a lot deeper and more "bike-like" than most 125s - it is four stroke though...

Nice... they should sell them here too... I'd love to get one for my wife. That would be the perfect started bike for her.

Welcome to the Boards Iceman

I`d start with a can like you suggested that`ll open her up a little and improve the sound a little for ya, for other things it depends on money and whether you want to stay at 33bhp or not if ya know what i mean theres plenty can be done if you wanted too.

Where ya at?

Hi again... Anubis, I'm in South West London. Not sure how much I want to put into the bike really. One thing is for sure though, I will definitely be upgrading in 2 years so I will probaby just wait it out with just some minor adjustments here and there. I've heard these bikes are also restricted electronically... I'll let you know how the can is - should be getting it around the 5th of Jan.

As for the the laws over here - you first have to do CBT which will then let you drive up to 125 with L-Plates. You then (if you're old enough) have a choice of tests. You can do the standard one (which I did) which will let you drive up to 33BHP for two years the anything after that, or you can do direct access which you take on a 500 machine and you can drive anything you want straight away. I think you have to be 21 for direct access.

The reason I didn't do direct access (I'm 28) is because it was considerably cheaper the other way especially considering I used my own bike which also lowered the cost. Also the bike is brand new so I was always intending to keep it for a couple of years anyway....

Yeah I`d stick with a few minor mods in that case then, Chain it up well theivin bastids especially like cbr125`s. Could always find out how to deresrict it first. Shouldn`t be expensive.
