Hello to all out there from rainy Florida, Gas prices have driven me to 2 wheels 99% of the time now, great for no insurance needed down here, sweet. O.K. here is my problem, I have a 1992 CBR F2 48,000 miles, Yoshi pipe, K & N, Jet kit, Runs like a champ. I have a set of gauges off at 1999 hornet 599 and wired up great everthing works except speedometer. I have set up a 1999 vfr speed sensor ( which I mounted on the front sprocket cover) black wire to +, green wire to -, Pink wire to speedometer. The guages have two wires not connected still. One wire is (red/blue stripe), the other is (brown/black stripe)-this one is fuel guage. I am majorly stumped on this, is there a way to measure the speed sensor for voltage and if so what is proper voltage? for the sensor output. Please help, any info will help me out. Picture of it will post soon.

Hi & welcome to the boards. I'll move this post to the tech area for you. Hopefully someone there can help you out.

Hmmm assuming the wiring colors and setup are the same, straight from my manual:

First check all your fuses (common sense right?) =)

Raise or remove fuel tank. Trace speed sensor wiring, unplug and check for voltage between the black and green wire terminals on the wiring loom side of the connector. If there is no voltage, check and trace wiring for broken wires or damage. If there is power, place bike on aux. stand and with the ignition on test for fluctuating voltage between 0-5 volts when turning the rear wheel by hand between the pink and green wire terminals. If a reading is obtained, and the wiring is good, then the speed sensor is faulty. Hope this helps somewhat.
