I made almost everything for this bike. I love pulling wheelies on this thing, it definately gets attention. Wanted and unwanted (police).

That looks sweet. It looks to be in great condition for a 72. Definatly post some pics of the wheelies. I can imagine the looks on peoples faces when they see that. Nice.

Nice ride!! I love the vintage stuff. I have an '05 VSTAR 1100 in addition to my CBR. Kinda nice to have a choice of which to ride!! (CBR usually wins!)

I've never been fond of the ape hangers, mostly because the only ones I've ever seen in person belong to some douche here in town. He literally has his arms at about an 80 degree angle when riding...
Yours don't look too bad, the second pic actually looks good.
I've got to see the wheelies... got to got to got to!

Nice lookin' bikes on both accounts! And Krash, you rebuilt everything on it? Nice! That "First Service" on HD's is killer.

Thanks!! It was a project bike. classic story, this guy had it in his shed, rusted all to hell, engine had been spray painted with silver paint, jugs and heads were completely rusted(they were made of iron-hence the name Iron head sportster), bike would start, but that was it. fouled plugs within minutes. had to have a new set of plugs and a jump to start it.
I rebuilt everything except the cam chest and actually splitting the cases-didnt need it. everything else was done, I could go on and on, I spent a whole winter rebuilding that thing. But, that's why I bought it.
btw, there are only a few pieces of chrome on that bike- the rims, the exhaust, and a few small shiny things here and there. everything else is all polished aluminum. everything on the engine, the cam case cover, the transmission cover on the other side, the valve covers, air cleaner, fork legs, and more are all aluminum. That was a job, cutting it all down with sand paper, cutting it with a buffer, and then polishing to a mirror shine.
there is a lot of blood and beer that went into that bike.

nice apocolypse, seeing yours up on the jack all torn apart like that brings back some fond memories. I say memories, becuase after 2yrs of internal debate, I sold mine. (I had owned it for about 6yrs) I hated to do it, but at the time I had 3 bikes in garage, and we had just had our first child, and I just didnt have the time to dedicate to the old beast that it needed.
