Thanks for letting me know my instructions helped. Those 3000k HID's look sick, if I had a yellow bike, I would have so gone with those. They REALLY help with depth precision and foul weather.

I went with the yellow with the hope of better daytime visibilty with other people on the road (although it looks great with my black RR :-) ).  I certainly hope it helps.

Because I purchased an auto kit for the 3000k, I have a spare bulb/ballast if anyone is interested.  PM me should you want more information.

hey i was wondering, anyone put these kits on a 929. wasnt sure if it was doable due to the three bulbs used for the headlights.  1 in the center for low beams, and 2 on either side for bright.......

I am not sure what bulb a 929 takes, but there are conversion kits for a number of different bulb types.  I think the biggest thing you would need to consider is where you are going to mount 3 ballasts.  Because the wire from my ballast to the bulb wasn't long enough, I had to mount mine under my right faring where my toolbox used to be.

I extended the silicon wires and I havent had any problems

You would have to get 3, H7 HID kits (or 1 car kit and 1 motorcycle kit).......and extend the silicone wires (I would recommend getting actual silicone wire extensions.........and not just cutting the wires.) If you have an automotive electrical shop around your area, they can make you a nice set of "plug-and-play" silicone wire extensions with the proper gauge silicone wire and end connectors. (makes for a very clean install and a quick-disconnect if you need to).

Though, HID kits do take about 6-10 seconds to "warm up" to full brightness........and it's not good for them to be flicked on and off quickly..........so you could actually make just your low beam HID, and leave the high beams as regular bulbs so you can flash and have "instant on" high beams when you need them.

Just a suggestion though.

If you have any in-depth questions........just PM me and I'll get back to you.

This is how I have mine set-up.  Honestly though, I think 3 HIDs is way beyond overkill.  Even 1 is more than bright enough.

I kind of want to see what 3 freaking HID's on at the SAME TIME would look like. (especially on a bike).

........I'm thinking surface of the sun, or possibly a beam of light that's visible from space.

I was wondering if everything is the same for the 2000 f4 cbr in terms of instructions and materials.

Much of what I explained here can be carried over to other bikes, regardless of make or model. Though, I will tell you that they don't make the HID kits with the separate igniters anymore, so I would try and find a place up front to mount the ballasts. (they're a little bigger than a klondike bar.)

I would talk to an automotive electrician to see how you could extend the silicone wires that lead from the ballast to the bulb. If you can, then you can easily mount the ballasts in the same location as I did. If not, then you'll have to mount them up front.

Let me know if you need any help with the project man.

If your wanting to splice the high-temp silicon wire, you may want to use a more appropriate tape for it like:
http://products3.3m.com/catalog/us/en001/utilities_telecom/electrical_contractors/node_GS1YR4S9D0be/root_GST1T4S9TCgv/vroot_GSBCDFDZ1Zge/gvel_LJLFLP2Q4Dgl/theme_us_electricalcontractors_3_0/command_AbcPageHandler/output_html

This will help seal up the splice alot better.   Excellent writeup on the HID install.  I've installed several kits, and will be installing one on my first bike (a Honda of course) I'm going to buy in October.  Really looking forward to it.  :)

Thanks for the tip. (never knew that stuff existed.)

I'm really going to have to Google exactly how to mess with silicone wires. I'm helping my other roommate install an HID system on his 06 RR later this week, and we have NO idea where to mount those damned ballasts up front.

Blue,
I have a few questions for you. In the picture with all lights running with only the one headlight showing the blue-tinted light, is this how it appears with just the low beam light? And then when the high beams are on then all three have the blue tint?

And finally, a little off topic, where did you find the clear light covering for the front turn signals? I have been looking for them for a while now, because I dislike the orange covering on my yellow bike, but at the same time I don't really think i want flush mounts.

Thanks in Advance.

Didn't I read somewhere that this HOW TO was going to be re-done with the updated kits and a new location for the ballast?

Yep, this will soon be updated with new Pics and install locations for the newer style ballasts. I just have to find the time to chop the pics and post up the new write up. It'll be soon though.

I would never run the ballast power off the stock headlight wiring.  This is a big no-no in HID retrofitting.

Use the headlight wiring to activate a 12V spst  relay which is directly connected to the battery at all times.  The headlight wiring simply triggers the relay.  This way you have proper gauge wiring to your HID with little voltage or current drop.  You risk a fire this way you've done the wiring.

Will the 12,000 K kit overheat my exisitng wiring Harness on my F4i?

Why 12,000k?

Just wear purple sunglasses.  ;)

Just make a wiring harness to be sure.
