Took mine to 160 and it was as fast as I ever need to go. Was scary, Had to constantly watch road for anything even a squirrel would cream you at 160.

151 prior to my speedohealer and 520 conversion.

162 after.

I conducted my own lil experiment the other nite (matter-a-fact), as I wanted to sea my new top end after gearing my bike down (-1+2). Before my experiment, I guessed, based on rpm and engine noise in sixth (6th) at about 140-145.

Here it is, the straight away (I-95 southbound) with lil to no cars on the RD (3:45 a.m.) I hit the gears alllll the way up flawlessly, nearlly hitting the rev limiter in every gear. It felt so good, I havent hit the gears that smooth gittin on it since my F4 in 02'

162 on the gage, with a 99.9 accuracy, and the rev light comming on I ease of the throttle. The bike felt like it had a smidgen more, if I had to guess 165-168 tops. I'm all about the low end anywho, why I did the 520 in the first place, but ya gotta treat yerself to a lil speed from time to time.

this bike is insane, luvin the 520

178mph on an interstate where I could see about 4 miles ahead and nobody was out there. Was a 1 time thing for me, now I've done it.

it was member ss954rr, happened at the end of april...if you do a search for his screen name, you'll see the last time he logged in, and the last post that was made, which was very similar to this one...again, please be safe everyone, use your best judgement...

I've done a quick blast up to 143 indicated on the RR, which is like 133/134 true speed.  I had my ZX-9 up to an honest 150 before I chickened out. During a ΒΌ mile test, a guy hit a squirrel at ~150, and surprisingly nothing happened.

I'd like to know what a stock 1000RR could do with the right gearing, I'd guess about 180.

When I first saw this thread I thought there would be a bunch of 170-180 mph's in here. On my first bike ('04 599) I got up to 154mph before the road caught up with me, and it felt like there was an ounce or two left. I bought my 1krr just recently and with the horrible weather we have had here in the Houston area I still haven't broken 600 miles yet. But once I get past the break in period I plan to find a long stretch of road that I familiarize myself with before hand, and when noone is around top the CBR out. Who knows though, I might chicken out once I bust 160 or so...

Interesting.  The 9R ('98) was my first liter class bike and first bike I bought new.  Previously I had an '84 RZ350 and an '87 CBR600F Hurricane, but they were in rough shape when I got them, especially the Hurricane.  The idiot who owned the RZ350 moved out of town after graduating college and just left the bike in a parking lot, uncovered, for a year.

the Manual says that the break-in on the CBR1000RR is 300 miles... bro..

182mph indicated on the CBR1000RR. I had a GSXR1100 that was bored out with cames and high comp pistons that I redlined in 5th with a 2 down rear sprocket. Closest we can figure is 206mph. No bs. I hit 150+ just about every time I ride, but I have a hour drive to the nearest town and alot of open smooth straight road.

161 mph showing on speedometer.
Not sure what that equates to, minus the inherent error. This was a spontaneous, straight, 6th gear roll-on from 80mph on the expressway with no one visibly in front of me. Did'nt take long, bike was very stable. I've done multiple 150 + 3d gear roll- ons. This happens real quick. I get on the brakes immed afterward  and bring the speed down to th posted limits in case of radar detection.
