how many miles you guys getting out of your bikes befor any major work has to be done? the reason i am asking is because i found a 2001 with 18,000 on it. the guy is asking $4900. i was going to offer him $4300 its the going rate for 2001 a f4i in the area from what i have found on cycletrader and some other places do you think this is good. the plastics look perfect and it has a two bros exhaust and a tinted wind screen not sure of brand also comes with helmet jacket and gloves prob need to get a new helmet but it will be ok. i dont like to use others helmets.

Price sure seems pretty high IMO. Got a stock 03 w/ less then 11k miles for less then 4k. There is really no way to say how much you’re going to have to put in it. Really just depends on how well it was cared for. Expect at least maintenance stuff because that is known items that you'll need: Air filter every 10-12k miles ($35), sprocket/chain every 6-? miles depending on set-up and rider ($160+), Oil & Filter every 2-3k miles ($30-50) and of course all the unexpected that it may need. I have only bought aftermarket parts. Nothing has really gone wrong, other then needing a new chain.

That seems awfully high for an 01 with that many miles. Anyway, I have 20,800 miles on mine, runs perfectly fine no major work done or needed at this time. A person you'd probably want to ask is thirdgenlxi though lol. He broke 100,000 miles on his not too long ago.

Sounds a bit high in price. Offer of 3500 sounds a bit more real. I paid 3500 for an 02 with 3800 miles on it.

Yea the price does seem a lil steep... I'd try and work it down to at least $3800 or so.  If it's been maintained and treated right, don't worry about the miles.... F4i will last damn near forever.  Mine just turned 104,000 the other day, no major work at all ever needed, and barely even any little stuff (clutch cable, CCT, rectifier/regulator).  Everything else is just maintenance.  Still runs and sounds like brand new!

So there is hope lol! I was just wondering thirdgen, what kind of riding do you do? Commuting, and occasional aggresive riding? Just want a comparions in hopes that mine could last that long lol.

That's pretty much it now, daily commuting, lots of roadtrips, and occasional semi-agressive riding.  I never ride balls to the wall on the street.... not the place to do it.  But on some of the group rides I'll get on it and ride harder than I usually do, but nothing crazy or anything.  I've slowed down alot though.. .when I first started riding for the first year or so, every single sunday morning we'd ride out in the everglades and just run wide open 150-160 for miles and miles and miles and miles.  I guess that's why the high speed stuff really bores me now, I did it so many times it just doesn't do anything for me except give me some serious mental fatigue

Yeah, that's mainly what I use mine for, commuting. Getting to work, school, and during summer I make many 600 to 1,200 round trips. Although every weekend I usually do semi to very aggressive canyon/mountain riding. I should do my CCTL, because it's a little annoying, but not unbearable lol.  I'm not too much into high speed stuff as I am into twisties and such.

Yeah man I bought my 02 F4i with 1200 miles on it a few months ago for $6000 even. Just something to go by. Oh and it was (and still is) in mint condition when I got it. Hope this helps.

that price is very high.  I got my '01 w/ 16k on it, Yosh exhaust, tinted windscreen for $3500.  It did have a couple of scratches, but nothing really noticeable.  19k miles is a bit high...but these bikes can last a very long time with no major work.

the price is high but keep in mind guys that some areas do not have that great of a bike market and that forces the price to go up.
i say you offer him 4grand and not worry about the mileage.

depends where ur located, i paid 5,000 in MA for an 02 in May with 2700 miles, mint condition. Could sell it around here for atleast 4500 with 5300 miles no problems. All on location, all you saying 03's with less than 4k miles for under 4k dollars in insane for around here, NO WAY!
