I have a 2001 cbr600f4i and when i let out the clutch in gear with the kick stand up the bike cuts off. Bike will start and run fine in neutral but when put in gear and clutch let out bike cuts off. Its something electrical the clutch never engages. any ideas

Your stand safety switch could be bad. If it was, it would kill it like that every time you put it in gear.

Sounds to me like it might be the safety switch too...
With the stand down, the bike will run fine in neutral only. Once you put it in gear, it will shut down the motor. It is a safety feature. So, you need the stand up to be able to put in gear and get on your way.
If your switch is bad, or going bad...it will send the signal that it is always in the down position, therefore shutting the motor down...Good Luck..

I don't know that it is his safety switch. He says he can get it in gear and it still runs, which the kick stand switch won't let you do. It's still worth checking I guess. I don't know what else it could be. See if you can take off in 2nd gear. Will it rev in neutral fine? Can you put it in first, keep the clutch in, and roll the bike with your feet without it shutting down?

Giving it enough gas? Are you letting it warm up sufficiently?

Do the gauges go out? - Looks like most of the systems run through a common ground somewhere near the radiator/coolant temp switch - if that ground was failing - as you released the clutch switch, the added load could cause the system to basically shutdown (due to lack of a good ground).
Looks like it feeds the fuel pump, gauge pod, and other switches in the system...
Otherwise it sounds very odd - You could bypass the kickstand safety switch (Just short the terminals across) to trick it into thinking it's up and see if the problem improves.

what rpms does it idle at? Will it keep running in gear with the clutch pulled in?
