everyone knows that there are a lot of people on hear that ask how to lower their bike. and it gets way out of hand.. here are the steps if someone wants to lower their bike then --> its their bike
heres a good reading on lowering too http://www.cbrforum.com/m_172601/tm.htm

here are the steps on how to do it. (may vary a little from bike to bike)

REAR
1. loosen up the bolts that hold your rear suspension linkage on your bike
2. have a friend lean the bike on the kickstand
   b) you remove the old linkage and install the lowering link
3. put the bolts in it and put the bike back on the tires
4. tighten all the nuts to torque

FRONT
1. only do one side at a time!
2. mark  and measure the tube for the front shock (i put a piece of tape 1 1/4" down the tube)
3. loosen up the clipon
4. loosen the lower bolts for the trees that hold the tube on
5. loosen the top bolt slowly and let the tube slowly slide up (keep stopping and taking measurements)
6. keep taking measurement (if lowering the rear 1" go 1 1/4" in the front)
7.tighten everything back up and do the other side.

dont write about the good and bad of lowering a bike here. if they want to they are going to! i did

If you drop it 3" in the back, what do you drop it in the front?

I lowered my wifes bike because I had no choice, she could not touch.  So I know from experience that there is one more step you forgot to mention. The last step is install an adjustable kickstand, or have the original cut.  Her bike had to be parked on a curb until I got the kickstand cut!!!!
