Just wanted to thank everyone for their wisdom & counsel as I've worked towards which bike to get.
I just finished today my 3 day MSF riding course & got my Motorcycle license at Road Atlanta. It was a pretty intense school. 10 hours a day. LOTS of riding. The road test was very complete. We had to do 4 major items for the testing as a class.
1. Figure 8 in a tight box.
2. Emergency stops.
3. Obstacle avoidance
4. 90 degree & 135 degree turns
Me & one other guy both scored 100% on both the road test & the written exam!! Both of us are in our mid 40s, so we felt pretty good beating the scores of the "young bucks" out there!!!

During the class, one of the young studs out on the range came up to me & said, "Dude, you been doing lots of riding haven't you?" I said, "Yeah, over 30 years ago I raced some pretty serious motorcross." He just sorta looked.......
So today, I drove home in the Corvette & changed into my pickup truck & headed to the Honda dealer -- Southern PowerSport Honda in Chattanooga. There, I purchased a 2006 Honda CBR 600RR -- and I bought the FAST COLOR ~~ RED/BLACK!!!!
Brought her home in the truck & what a view!! Looking back through the glass & seeing that gorgeous sexy shape of an RR right behind me. Got all sorts of looks & admiring glances from the motorists passing by all the way home.
Off loaded her with a neighbor's help, then fired her up for the first time!! Put on my gear & have already put about 10 miles on her tonight!!! What a TOTALLY AWESOME MACHINE!!!!! It's just amazing how balanced & adequate this bike is!!
I can only say this in closing...BEST lookin bike I ever rode!!!!!!!!!!!

congrats! i've heard so much good lately about southern powersports that i'm considering giving them a call. great prices that they advertise and all. and a big thumbs up for the perfect scores in the class. i got a 100% on my writing test, but got 4 points on my riding exam (scoring might be different elsewhere but zero is perfect and anything up to 21 is passing.) i crossed a line on the figure 8 box (1 point) and my time in the 2 turn course was 3/10's of a second below what was expected. a point for every 1/10 second. so congrats and enjoy that beautiful new beast!

Here are some fresh pics...wanted to get one of her coming in on the truck, but I needed to beat sundown to get it off for a quick ride.
Drats!!! I've tried to upload pics, but all the files are too big it says. Most are running 350 - 385 & the limit is 250.
Any suggestions?
And THANKS for the congrats!!! Waited a long time for this.

Thanks alot guys! Hard work DOES pay off. Yep, I truly love the Corvette Z06 world. Track days...racing...high performance driving is the ultimate!!! But now I've got something that is it's equivalent in the bike world too. And RED/BLACK has always been my sports car colors, so the choice of colors on the RR was a given for me.
If you've never driven a new C5 or C6 Vette, you don't know quite what you're missing. They are just awesome machines!!!
The Z06 just kicks it up to the next level - and a very good level it is!!!
I'll try later on to get some pictures of the RR & Z06 outside to include more of them both. They make quite a duo on the ole garage now. Let's just say that the faithful lil ole 93 Toyota P'up is feelin just a TAD outclassed!!!

Wow...nice stable man. I had to take a double take when I glanced at the first pic and realized you have a Z06 too...nice!

And if the toyota is AWD man, I think you're in goooood shape.

If you guys like his car and bike... you should see what he drives at work

I think he could take all of us without breaking a sweat.

You talking about this "ride at work" Don??? It'll do well over 500 mph!!!
And it's got some pretty radical lean angles too if you want to do it.

Sounds like the same scoring system we were under.
Yep, you'll really do well at Southern Power sports. Ask for Mike Kelly. He's really good at getting you out the door & their pricing cannot be beat.

May I'm grinnin from ear to ear!!! Just put about 40 more miles on her tonight. Went down some back roads, then out on to a state highway. Turned off into a new middle school parking lot & just practised all the manuevers I'd just refreshed on at MSF school. Figure 8s in a tight box, emergency stops, weaves & slolums, etc.
I also have started cranking her out just a bit (like up to 10 - 11,000 rpm in 1st, 2nd, & 3rd. Man the speed is ADICTING!!!!!!

I'm seeing what everyone likes here!!!
Anyway, got home & wiped her down with Zaino #7 gloss enhancer spray. Stuff is MAGIC!!! I've already got 1 coat of Zaino wax on her & there's more to come.
Here's a couple of pictures after dark just before pulling into the garage.
NICE way to end a hectic week!!!
