In a mad moment I put my bike up for sale. OK, lot of reasons for me needing to get a car, and the reality (for me anyway) was that it would be to expensive to run three vehicles. My wife uses our car to get to work. I'm retired, so up until now, need to worry about it.
Advertised it, had a few calls, but thankfully my wife has come up with a solution by changing her work hours.
Wot is really astounding is the questions & expectations that I got from people ringing up about it.
I put it out there at a fair price, and most of the calls seemed to be disappointed that I'd actually rode the thing. And did not just bring it home from the shop (on a trailer) and just lock it away till the day that I sold it to them.
One guys was pissed that I didn't have and aftermarket can on it, and another one wanted a Joe Camel version, and I advertised it with pics.
Anyone else come this close to selling or had similiar experiences from buyers?

Glad you can keep the bike! I guess people are looking for the bike that a person got, scared themselves after a few hundred miles, and put it up for sale. I think that there are so many of those situations, that they are dissapointed if you actually have miles on it. Sometimes, it is worth more to keep the sale item. I've noticed that with my guitars.

when i almost sold my bike i had tons of people calling to ask if i would trade for a boat, if they could make payments to me. someone also offered me a wedding ring, tv, stereo and a boat! i was like wtf? i dont want a boat, i want another bike, and do i look like a damn bank? payments!? wtf? so i just kept it and decided i will keep it even after i buy another bike.

Rrasco, can I trade you a 100 lb sack of beans, two beaver skins, and a partially used roll of toilet paper for your bike...

I've already decided to ride my bike until it is so old it is worthless. Is it really that expensive to run a bike? Aside from tires and insurance, these things seem pretty cheap. Maybe consider lowering your insurance coverage on it instead of getting rid of it.

Believe it or not i've had a few offers on my 250RR. im not trying to sell it. i might hold on until after Australia's next election when the new guy doesn't have any reason to pour money into lowering fuel prices (I think lowering fuel prices is a scheme to make us think our current PM cares about fuel price problems). when the prices go up the percentage of bike riders is bound to follow along with the price of learner bikes.

shit I can rant on.

But yeah sounds like you had a rough time selling the thing. It was meant to be!
