Anyone got any engine mod suggestions for my '05? I like the quiet sound and original look of the OEM exhaust, but would like to gain reliable low-end torque and mid range w/o sacrificing top-end. I've already reduced gearing to as low as it gets, but the trade-off is that it revs too high on the highway. I want more power with stock gearing w/o alot of noise. I'm guessing bigger pistons and so I ask if anyone has done this and whether it was worth it.
I can't bring myself to get the zx14, because I traded in my zx11 for the CBR and can't go back to riding a big, heavy sport-tourer.

pistons alone are not going to do it. head work, cams, pistons, exhaust, the normal speed stuff is how you do it. of couirse there is always a hairdryer, search for the guy who has his dyno numbers posted here.
Speed cost money boy. How fast do you want to go?

May i ask why you need more power?

I want to have the power I've got now, but with OEM gearing. And I got the bug real bad when I rode a new CBR 600 the other day which impressed the heck out of me. As quick as it is tells me we should be getting alot more out of our liter bikes.

You'd be better off spending the money on light weight wheels and rotors, not to mention a 520 chain conversion kit. All this will drastically reduce the weight of the bike and unsprung weight.

The 600's, even the new 07, only has about half the torque of a liter RR. Not even close HP numbers either.

If you thought the 600 was impressive relative to your bike you might consider a tune-up. Make sure your plugs, filters are all good.

What he said and you might want to try some N2O

Tell me where have you used all the power you have now? Do what Triax said. The more wieght you loose the faster the bike and the better the handling.

i have both the 1000rr and the new 07 600RR
yes the 600 is impressive and handles great
its throttle response is awesome and has tons of midrange
but in no way shape or form does it compare power and torque wise to my blade

If there were an easy way to get the same *power* from stock gearing (acceleration actually) as you can from -1, +2 for example then Honda would have already done it.

this is the best bet
the better the hp/weight ratio the better
