put the torches and lighters down and don't burn me like a witch. i searched but i can't find a definitive answer. i'd like regear my bike -1,+2 (cheap mod). can i use the stock chain with this sprocket combo and still be able to set the correct chain slack. my bike has 1400 miles so the chain has not stretched much at all. its still in the new position according to the slack adjusters. thanks

I'd say change the chain and go with the 520 conversion, now if your on a limited budget or just like having the bigger chain the answer to your question is yes, just make sure to order another master link with the sprockets.

Check out
www.sprocketspecialist.com, the sprockets are labeled 530 and 520 make sure to order the 530 sprocket, and dont forget the masterlink!!

You'll have a tough time getting that back wheel off without taking the masterlink out if the chain if its still in the new position. But if by chance you can take it off without "breaking" the chain, then hell go for it!!!

haven't done it on the CBR but i've taken many a wheel off on bikes that had a new chain when i worked at a stealership.

Kool! I just did the conversion on my F4i and when I was done, there is NO way i could take my back wheel off without breaking the chain. But hey, goodluck.

just thread the adjusters all the way in and theres plenty of chain slack to get the wheel off i would think

I've taken my back wheel off 4 times all w/o breaking the chain. And the first time was around 2K miles. Unless the chain is needed for the sprocket conversion it shouldn't be needed for the wheel removal.

My chain has just about 1/2-3/4 of an inch of play with the the tension adjusters practically all the way in!! Now I didnt say that it was impossible or it wasnt gonna happen, but I'm referencing my bike, I just said that I couldnt do it. Now maybe I should have left an extra link in the chain when I put it on but seems to work well just like it is and has the appropriate amount of slack. Then again I havent ried to take the wheel off since I put the chain on either.

Where is the stock 525 cheaper than the 520 conversion? I recently almost got the conversion kit with the steel sprocket and quick accel. and it was like 50 bucks cheaper than the stock 525 kit. Did I almost get ripped off?
