Hi Steve -- welcome to the board! I'm an old fock -- just turned 39 and ride a 1000RR. Insurance for you is gonna be sticker shock no matter what sportbike you get. The numbers just aren't on a 20yo's side. If you have the $$ buy it outright and just get liability and theft -- it'll save you big bucks.

welcome steve, I too am old, 32. I've seen a couple 16 year olds on here so we cover all ages and we're one big happy family.

Im 23 and have had a 63 year old man blister my butt on the track. At least until he got tired and I could pass him back. There are riders from all ages here.

At 63... he wasn't tired, either his geritol wore off or he needed a nap.

I will be 37 in December. To give you an even better idea of ages, I am in the middle of working on a 91 Katana I bought for $400 so my 36 year young wife can learn to ride it on the street before I give her the 05 600RR full time.

welcome steve, im 19 and your inscurance will probably suck. i have seen insurance rate on this sit alone, anywhere from like 40bucks a month for what they say is full coverage, on up to my 170 a month so there is a lot of factors involved that will give you a different out come. good luck with getting a cbr

I took out a personal loan through a bank and they did not require me to carry full coverage, however if i financed through honda credit i would have had to carry full coverage.i paid a little more of an intrest rate at the bank but saved loads of $$$$on insurance.$160/year compared to$2000-$4500.im 25 and own a 04 cbr 600 rr,20 years old idk if i owned my bike at 20 i prolly wouldnt be here today lol.just ride within yourself youll be alright.Another thing when you apply for ins. tell them you plan to put on a minimum amount of miles per year and it also helps if you dont live in the city, maybe if you have relitives that live out in the sticks you can use there address.

...28...i payed 145 for the whole year and i just have to keep from gettin it stole or gettin hit by someone without ins. i only really carry my insurance to keep the police happy. i figure if i get hit again (like the hit and run on the freeway i have already been in)i'll be happy to still be alive and i can use the damage as an oportunity for new mods...lol. also when i bought my bike i got this kinda gap insurance, which i'm sure some of you also got, that if someone steals it they cut me a check for 5 grand. it won't actually cover the cost of the bike but it was a one time fee and it's better than nothin. the reason i don't have full coverage is cuz i don't have a covered garage to put it in so they won't let me with some companys. the ones that will cost too much and the customer service truly sucks.

30... and I think my bike added like 22 bucks a month to my policy. And that is full coverage.
