Has anyone used an ignition advancer for the Hurricane, or any other CBR? CBRZONE.com has them
here. My question is...should I get the +6 or the +4? Right now I have a K&N air filter, full D&D exhaust, and a stage two jet kit. Pretty much I want the most power that I can get while still running smooth. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just make sure you invest in dyno time to get your fuel correct. Unfortunately the part will run you $60 but set-up will be closer to $300-$400 to get it properly fueled.

i had the 4 degree and i liked it except at the track, but it was quick in stop and go.. i put it in my F2 when i had the 600 in it, i had a yoshi RS-3, K&N, and a jet kit.. i would go with a 4 degree and some new sprockets! hope this helps..

why didnt you like it at the track? what kind of performace gains can be had from this?

i dont know how to explain it other than it zipped through the gears really fast and i couldnt wind them out in the rpm range. it climbed really fast and i was in 5th at the line and everyone else was in 3rd. i was losing time by shifting too much.
it improves take off and top speed over a long distance just not good for strictly the 1/4 mile... does that make any sense?????

kind of, was it bouncing off the rev limiter? reving out before you had time to shift? i kinda get what your saying but not really. but it makes that much of a diffrence?

well i shift at redline or a little higher... it was revving through the gears fast but to shift more gears were cutting my time down. i had time to shift but it was fast through the gears when the throttle was being held open. unless you are going to run mostly at the track then i wouldnt get one, but if you are going to be on the streets, twisties or highway then i would get one. but yeah it is a pretty noticable difference.
i know it sounds wierd and i know that i am just not explaining it right but i am trying....

im still not getting the concept of what is exactly bad about it at the track it goes through the gears fast i got that but im trying to find the problem. if it redlines in first without the advancer it it will only hit lets say 50mph @12500, with the advancer it would still be 50mph at 12500 but would get there alot faster and so on and so forth with all the other gears. im trying to place exactly where that is not disirable in the 1/4 of all things that would bring you to your top speed much faster. or does it bring down the top speed of any said gear? i dont see how that would happen though.

i was losing time because of having to shift the 2 extra times. i wasnt losing time in the bike being slower, it was me shifting(i wasnt fast enough)

ok. i dont mean to press the issue but i plan to be an all around rider with twisties and some weekends down the drag strip. how many times did you run it with it in, would you be able to improve on your shift to use it to your advantage? or is it just not possible? how much did it do for the low end?

dont worry about it.. you would be fine if that is all that you want it for then..i ran it about 5 diff track days. yes you could get used to it and use it to your advantage i am sure. i didnt get a lot of chances to get used to it though so i was just telling you the things that i immediately noticed a increase in by using it. i felt that it did alot for the increase in the low end powerband.
plus for only 53.99 its a pretty cheap investment for any power gain...
i sold mine when i did the 900 swap. but the more and more that we talk about it i am thinking about getting one for the 900 and trying to get used to it.... dang now you got me thinking about getting another one and seeing if it was me or the advancer

i am also wondering how it would do with a airshifter..hhhmmmmmmmmmm????????

for the money it sounds like the best mod you could possible do for more power. not to mention the better lower end that everyone is lacking. thanks for all the replies. i was thinking about the airshift too that sounds like it would be very nice. if you get one for the 900 let us know how it worked out for you.
im thinking the advancer, slip on, re-jet, -1+2 sprockets and i should be good to go for a while.
