what should you clean the tank with that does not hurt the paint? why do they say to use heat on it

It's grips that go on the sides of the tank to help you grip as you ride.
I'd just use a mild soap and water and let it dry good. Heat will soften the rubber and help the adhesive do it's job. Plus, if you have the clear ones, it'll help reduce the bubbles.

Ahh I see. Yea mild soap sounds like your best bet.

Trying to mix things up a little. I figured since Honda changed up the logo, very slightly, after a couple of decades... I can change mine a little too.

I read a 30% rubbing alcohol 70% distilled water mix is GREAT for cleaning your plastics for any sort of sticky application.
