How is it not? The #1 dude, not #1 IMO, is in the oil business. God knows how many other politations are in the oil business.
Complain all you want. OPEC controls oil prices, it is supply and demand (with a little slop from the financial markets). Just because the President may profit from high oil prices doesn't mean he controls it. I have profitted from high oil prices and I will continue to do so, but that doesn't mean I control the prices. I have invested in energy firms for the past 15 years and it has made me money, far more than the rise of gasoline has cost me. My next move is to plan how to profit from the Canadian Oil sands, the second largest proven reserves.
The biggest threat to this country is high energy usage, it has been this way since the 1973 ARAB Oil embargo. Since then we have been under attack by the Arabs and now they are finally winning battles. So you have two choices, learn to profit from high oil prices like I have or whine about about until you are blue in the face, either way, the future is set.
UMMMMM I guess we don't have any reserves to tap into? Supply in demand? Shutting down plants and slowing production creating a shortage is not supply in demand.

thats why I had to sell my formula and truck, to get a ugly civic, but hey 43mpg...cant beat it...well other than my bike
There are a couple of stations here in So Cal that have 87 for $4.01 a gallon. they are the "sucker you gotta buy my gas or you will run out" stations, there the only one around or next to the freeway. but none the less they are all following step.
I figure $4.09 by two weeks maybe three.

we are about 3.69 for reg in chicago suburbs. i was actually computing this in my head this week. Lets say you make 7.50 an hour (minimum wage) and you have roughly a 16 gallon tank to fill. You use a tank of gas a week. that means that you are working one 8 hour day strickly to get back and forth to work. i know 7.50 is unlikely for most but if you think about it how are people supposed to live when 20% of your income is for transportation???
^^^^ those are the people that I feel for. It's like getting your hours cut by 3 or 4 days each month.
