That really depends on the state. Some states simply require that the plate can be read from a certain distance and have a white light to illuminate the plate. Check with your local authorities to be sure.

That's funny...
Federal DOT standards state (and i paraphrase) that all motor-vehicles must have a state identification tag in proper orientation, behind the furthest rear axle, at the rear, properly illuminated, and unobstructed.
how many FEs do you know that fit this description?

Well it will be behind the rear axle, just will have to be creative getting the wire back to light up the plate.

I'm going to have a newly designed FE in a few days....its lit and its legal. It's from Tripage...I'll post pics when I get it installed!

That one isnt legal either (atleast in FL). It isnt past the rear axle. nice kit though

I don't do electrical anything, its just not my thing. How do you get power to those botls to light em? The stock wiring for the licence plate light?

Yes. you can cut the existing wires going to the stock taillight. The only tricky part is knowing which one of the wires on the stock taillight is positive and which one is negative. I don't have a 600, so I am not sure which wire is positive.
The liscense plate light has labeled instructions
(click here) be sure to cover any exposed wire with electrical tape. If you don't, they might touch and blow a fuse.
