hello all.  im new to the forum, you can read my new member post to find out a little about me..
my question is, i just installed the larrys fe kit. i choose to keep the heat sheild and i also modified the black shroud so that i could keep that (looks very clean). i ran the right turn signal wire overtop the heatsheild, it is not tight aginst it but it does come in contact with it.. there are a couple small areas with no extra insulation. does the heatsheild at that location (under brakelite) get hot enough to melt wires. if anybody has done this without problems or with problems i would appriciate the info.. thanks..

There has been alot of reports of the tail light even melting. I would say it is not a good place if there is any chance it can cuase harm,

Also depends on what exhaust you have on your bike too.

If you're running the stock exhaust with the aluminum heatshield, it'll be fine. That's how I have it with a targa license kit and it hasn't been a problem. I've looked at the wires after a long ride on a warm day and no problem. The heatshield gets warm, but not hot enough to melt.

i am running stock exhaust with stock heatsheild.  it is reasuring that you havent had problems yet. i ran the wires in the same place on my 03 600rr but it was a little different design, i was able to go over without touching heat sheild..
