im trying to upgrade from my 99 600f4 here soon, is the 600rr a huge upgrade or should i get a 1krr, i like dragging and the occasional twisties

, so do you think i should consider a 600, or jump up to the 1krr?

what's wrong with your f4? what it puts down 90, maybe a hundred hp? the RR puts down 105...

its got some rash, couple little problems, n i really want something i can customize a lil more and easier, not many parts are made for the f4 such as undertails, or undertail exhausts, but i like the new style and injection is nice too

well the F4i would have been the next logical step for you, however i believe Honda has fazed them out now.
the RR is really the next 600 you could buy and still be up-to-date.

has anyone here ridden both a 600rr and a1krr? if so which one is more fun to ride?

it's the same bike with a bigger engine. you're on two wheels, one is no more fun than the other, IMO.
g'luck.

well personally i like (love) the 07 600.now im a big guy 6/2 225 but when i rode an 05 1k it just felt like is was a mammoth underneath me but im guessin thats because ive been riding my 600 for a while now. but riding the 600 in the twisties for me is just like riding a bicycle cause its so light.

The 1000 is great for pure power, but if you like the twisties, you will like the 600 better. A 1000 takes an experienced hand to keep that throttle from popping the front end up and getting on the power on the exit of a corner could bring it up at a very inconvenient time. The 1000 will feel bigger, heavier, and less agile than a 600. Plus, the 600 is a bit more forgiving if you make a mistake. The new 600's will do anything you want. Ride one. You'll see.

Definately go with the 600rr if you like the twisties. Like sixhundred said: Take a very experienced rider in keep the front end down on the liter bikes and keep the back tire from spinning out from under you in a turn when exiting (not forgiving). They are puure power. I've riden a 1k only around town for 20 miles or so but kept it on a pretty straight road, wasn't confident enough nor do I have the experience to take one into the twisties. On my 600rr I love the twisties and go around looking for them

(More Forgiving aswell ~ even with my mods). I also feel, if I had a 1k on the streets, that it would be a Huge waste. Nobody here can even ride a 600 to its full capability on the streets safely.

Approx 10.7 sans mods in the qtr with approx 163 mph top speed. If you drag, you'd like the power of the 1000, but you'd like a 600 better if you ride it daily and hit the twisties more often than the drag strip.

ok i ride 3-5 days a week in the summer, less when it cools off obv, not too many twisties around here but i can hit some about a hour or so away, drag strip is about 35-45 mins away, i dont see how a 1krr is so much bigger n heavier when the weights r pretty close to being the same... i ride fast alot around here where there are big long stretches of road, i want the 1k but i just dont wanna be overpowered for twisties when i want to ride them

im not a wheelie man yet but i think i will probably want to start doing them in a little while, not like a stunter just the occasional trick here and there, both of these bikes should definitely be capable of it tho right

about wheelies. . .much easier to power wheelie the 1000. On the 600rr, you will have to clutch your wheelies to bring the front end up quick, but you should get the hang of it pretty quick.
Go with the 600rr, much easier to thrash and pound through the gears without hurting yourself. I love it...

sounds like your stuck between an awesome decision or an even more awesomer decision. either way, you come out on top! i have a 600rr, never rode a 1000rr, so don't have much input. sounds like the general concensus is the 600.... but maybe that's because we're on the 600rr part of the forum. have you asked under the 1000... ok, i just read your thread under the 1000rr site.... looks like sixhundredrr really gets around! lol....
yup, looks like the votes are in and you should go w/ a 600.

Hey Jr, I have ridden both and I love my 600RR. Not sure how you ride...I am a technical rider, and love the high entry speeds and precision(?) it takes to keep up with a good rider on the liter bike. If you are a stunter, or wheelie king, do the big bike. Go find a solid 600RR to ride and you might be suprised...great bike, super light and it is fast. I wouldnt have a liter bike for track use...just think the little 600 is the perfect weapon. Good Luck..

is the 600 any more comfortable to ride then the 1k? i realize sportbikes arent considered comfortable usually, but is there one that is better then the other?

In the 1/8mile drag strip you're looking at 7.2- 7.4 at 101 - 104mphs with a reasonable 60foot around 1.7 - 1.9s. I haven't been to the quarter yet but been reading up on it and the bike should be able to do 10.5 - 10.7 around 122 - 126mphs with the same 60 foots above.
IMO...
I really think you'd be happy with the new 600rr and then maybe throw on a +1, or +2 on it for more low/mid.
The new stock 600rr at redline .. 1st gear = 72mph, 2nd gear = 102mph, 3rd gear = 126mph (all speedometer indicated)
Stock the new 600rr just barely pulls the front tire off the ground under WOT in 1st and if you shift hard from 1st to 2nd then it will only come up a small amount aswell. (safe IMO)...lol
With the +2 sprocket on it, the bike will stand up under WOT in 1st around 10k rpms.
As for the 1k .. I just think its too much. 1st = 90+mphs. .. Too much gas in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd .. its coming up on you easily. Too much gas outta of a corner and its going to put you really quickly into a bad situation ( you might have the skills to ride the 1k but if you're on the street and catch a bump or hole around a corner and unexpectedly goose it) no forgiveness.
I know the weight difference between the two bikes isn't mind blowing but when I've ridden the 1k it just feel like there's soo much more bike around me. Just doesn't feel as flickable as my 600. As for comfort the 600 feels better for me. I'm a smaller guy (5' 8'' 180pounds) but this could be very different for you.

I do.

But I try to help. Whatever his decision is, he will enjoy the bike. The real decision comes down to how he feels about it. Frankly, I think the fact that Sportbike Mag or whatever it is put a 600RR against a GSXR1000 in their comparison track test and the 600 was less than 1.5 sec behind speaks for the 600RR pretty damn well. Keep us posted on what you decide to do.
