low end engine lag

i noticed that the motor seems to bog out in real low rpm's when just starting out. if i punch it right off the line, it bogs for a sacond, and then pulls. i heard about disabling the air duct over the radiator and gave it a try. if anything, i would say that it lagged more. i just put the hose back on yesterday and really cant tell a difference. is there some kind of problem, or is it just because it is a liter bike and it wants to go, not put?

You still running stock exhaust? I can't see disabling the flapper helping much with the stocker. Completely removed mine (pain in the a$$) and it's a noticeable difference. Launching hard on these bikes requires some feathering of the clutch.

i have a jardine rt-1 street exhaust slip on. i disabled the hose by simply disconnecting it and putting a plug on the hose, i didnt totally remove it.

I guess every bike is a little different. Just plugging the hose helped mine out in the low rpms. Total removal seems to be a little more responsive in the mid-range also. If air happened to get by the plug in the hose then that could cause it to run bad. In the end ya gotta go with what runs best for your bike.

i figured it out. i just rode my friends bike with stock exhaust and realized that my jardine was what was causing the problem. i just ordered a power commander today and will report back when i put it on.

The power commander should clean up your fuel delivery

My 1k did the same thing but then I got the full yosh exhaust and I went down 1 tooth in the front sprocket and now it launches like a champ I love it. I sacrificed 11 on the top end but fugg it I never go 180. I thought it was just my bike.

You should recalibrate the throttle position after installing the PCIII. It made a difference with my bike.

How do you recalibrate the TPS?

You can go on the Powercommander web site and go to the animated tutorials to get a detail explaination. All you have to do is plug into your PCIII, establish connection with the unit (Key on and Switch to run), go to Powercommander tools, select throttle position and click the < Key. Your display will show 0% at idle. Now your throttle is recalibrated. You can do this with the bike on or off. I wanted a true setting so I did it with the bike running.

Thanks!
I just need to take some time this winter when things slow down and take a close look at everything the PC can do.

hey directions for installation kinda sucks, I thought. Hardest part is getting at the throttle bodies. Solution is to unbolt front bolts for the tank and pull tank back. Good luck!

When pulling the tank use some soapy water on the rubber boot that's around the filler cap -- can be quite a pain in the arse

yea, it does require a lot of dissasembly, but i have had it broken down more than that already. it will probably be a few days before i get the time to install it

ok, so i got the pc3 installed. now, im a little clueless. i installed a jardine slip-on and that is all of the performance stuff that it has recieved. so back to the low end engine lag...what am i going to have to adjust to get it to run properly?

I know that Powercommander does not have a custom map for the Jardine muffler. Did you download anything from Powercommander? Sounds to me that now you have to have it dyno.

I'd suggest downloading maps for other slip ons and try them out. Still unsure why your bike lugs. Can you do a burnout on your bike? If so, then next time you launch pretend that you're doing a burnout only don't squeeze the brake.

i got the pc3 installed yesterday, and the bike actually still started. i cant tell a big difference yet, but i havent done anything except try to mess with the buttons to lean or enrich the fuel. since they dont have a jardine map, ill try to find a pipe that is similar and use that map. im about to check out the website now and see what they have

Lots-O-Maps P.S. I e-mailed Jardine ... we'll see if they have customer service

i emailed them too, they said they dont have a jardine map, but the micron will be close. im going to try loading it tommorow and re-post with my results

i added the micron map. it was sooooo easy and took about 2 minutes. i havent ridden it yet, but im going out right now. i did notice that it smoothed out the idle. im pleased so far.

i dont know what im looking for to change. i recalibrated the throttle position while running. loaded the micron map. and about instalation, i found that it helps if you have a spare set of hands. i took a very fine blade screwdriver and put it under the clip to release it. then i had a friend that was holding the tank up and he pulled the old injectors off. i still hold the opinion of the installation instructions being really bad. i havent checked the website for pics yet, but i managed to get it all. thanks for all the help. i still dont know much about how i will need to tune it. so im always looking for help.
