Lowside... TIRES AT FAULT?

I almost lowsided my bike today going into a tight 90 degree turn. My front end started to wash out as I was leaning it over a good ways. Ended up scraping the peg and grinding my boot slider down a good bit, but I saved it. Went back and checked for oil/antifreeze/shi* and didn''''t see anything... I''''m thinking that it''''s time for some new rubber.

Has anyone had an issue with the OEM Bridgestones not gripping very well?

OEM''s suck tator slim. Try hanging off the seat some too.

Thanks for the tip PG. I''ve been preparing for an upcoming trip to Deal''s Gap. This will be my second time , hopefully I''ll have some new tires mounted and broke in by then.

Well that road will break em in in one pass lol

yeah, the OEM tires blow. they are fine for riding in a straight line but that''s about it, if you want to corrner get some better tires raited for stickynessss

So what do think about switching to a 180 instead of the stock 190? Quicker turn-in response, more agility?

Any pros or cons doing this?

do you lean or push your bike what so ever tho??

The only tires I have ever had a problem with is dunlops 218''s.  My personal favorite is Pilot Powers. I ran them at the dragon and had no issues at all. But, that road is awesome. I''m sure your stock tires would hold up well as the road is very sticky.
 
things to remember.:
 
1 Make sure your tires are warmed up before leaning the bike over.
2 Keep in mind that every roads traction is different. I run michelin pilot power tires and love them, but there is this one road near my house that is very slick, no matter how warmed up my tire is, it will still break traction on a this road on a one mile section.
3 Just because you didnt see anything, doesnt mean there wasnt something there. Since you slid and saved it, I would say there might have been a slick spot in the road.

got bumped to expert class in ccs in 01 fwiw,it takes alot for an individual to outride an oem tire on the street-unless it was a road issue  or say a tire that''s never ridden to it''s edge then all of a sudden take to it''s full apex pt

Yeah, I didn''t think about that. I just went to the garage and looked at the tires, the front tire had about a 1/2 inch chicken strip, well the left side does, , the whole rear is scrubbed all the way to the edge. cont.>>>>

<<<...you can really tell the difference when you slide your hand across the chicken strip and then the scrubbed up part of the tire.

So do you think it''ll be ok now to take that turn with the same approach now that the right side has been scrubbed in?

Ive got BT15 on my bike. I like them a lot when they are warm. Cold is when they get scary.

From following this post it seems like your weight might be shifted slightly back, if your rear tire is scuffed to the shoulder than the front tire shouldnt have a chicken strip anywhere, Your suspension settings up front might be off or your not staying up on the tank. Ive rode several different tires and they all work well for aggresive street riding as long as your bike is setup correctly.

i have the same issue with the front still haveing chicken strips and the rear being scrubbed to the edge, I thought it was just from the fact that front tires are narrower and taller then rear tires. so if you bike was leaned enough for the front to be on the edge, you would be out of back tire.
