i was thinking of buying some marchesini forged magnesium wheels for my 2004 CBR-1000RR? ive heard good things and bad. i heard they're only made for racing and using them on the street they could crack? if any one has them or knows anything good or bad i would love the input... thanks adam

I'd love to be able to get my hands on a set of these. As for your question, seems to me that if something were made for racing, it would be made to withstand some pretty extreme conditions and would hold up better than anything else? Unless, of course, you hit a pothole at 60 + mph. By the way, the Yamaha R1 LE comes from the factory with Marchesini wheels, just food for thought.

I have some buddies that street ride with some PVM magnesium rims. Also have some that ride street with the carbon fiber rims for BST. So far they are fine. Plus the new R1 LE comes with marchesi rims.

Ive read somewhere that they were made just for drag racing b/c they r made out of a lighter metal and if u rode them in the street and hit a pot hole it could cause the rims to dent a bit. Personally, i wouldnt chance it ridin in the street.

I'd go with Alum. I love my Carrozzeria's.

the magnesium has to be checked a lot because it is brittle
one hard bump and it is out of round

at least that is what the local bike shop told me
