Hey guys, just wanted to share with you the seat cowl I've made for my cbr600rr 03. The oem seat cowl was a bit standard... if you know what i mean, so I decided to make my own design, a bit more aggresive, a bit more racing style.

Tell me what you think...

I love it.. makes the rear look sorta like a gsx-r 600-750 w/ the seat cowls they have for em.
but
Just curious. n a lil off topic
were you a participant of the GUM BALL 3000?

CHU NOH - I wish I was a participant of the Gumball 3000, but last May when Gumball came to Greece I met the greek Gumball team and arranged to escort the convoy with the cars (that's why you see the camera on the tank), however a problem came up and the cars got stuck inside the airport area- and I only 've got few pics of the bike parked with NO SuperCars..... Damn!

FITZ- I used the OEM seat of the bike, used duct tape, foam, and sanding sanding sanding, few fiberglass layers, sanding sanding sanding, bondo/filler, sanding sanding sanding, primer, sanding, and then painted....latches for cliping on the tail and here it is-it took a huge ammount of time to make it look the way it is. This was the HOW TO of the prototype seat cowl. Weights only 600grams.

I've sold few on ebay and people say the best. If anyone is interested pm me I can guide you through the process or make one for you.

1. Darn.. that sucks you couldnt get any good pics of the insane cars that participate in the Gum Ball 3000

2. You are willing to fab these up for anyone? Im located in the us.. specifically ohio. If that makes a difference but I would be willing to send you a rear seat and some cash for you to fab one up for me. Let me know

CHU NOH - Check your pm
Yeah why not, If you are interested I can make few of these, btw it will fit both 1000RR & 600RR 2003-2006 (tested) and you don't have to send me the seat.

Looks great NIK, I just finished mine also.. check it out. Made it also out of glass.. and yes, it is very time consuming. I made a foam "solo seat", lots of carve and sand work like you said. Then dropped the foam form into plaster, and made a great negative for glass. Turned out great. Very little bondo... just to even out a few areas. Waayyy cheaper than buying one already made.

Great Work!!! Nice!! It looks like you are into fiberglassing/foam shaping. How did you manage to lock the cowl on the tail? I've used two latches, one for the lock and one for the back hole. Keep up the good work! Currently I'm building a lightweight motoGP race look bodykit for my bike

Nik.. well I experimented with using the factory latch and rear mount, by making some quick parts and glassing them to the underside of the solo seat.. it worked well, and is strong enough that I didnt cut them off and make them nicer looking. It is really ugly underneath, as the pic will attest to... but like I said, it worked perfect right off the bat, so I kept it the way I mocked it up. If I do another, it will be much nicer

Try to paint the underside with latex( house plastic paint-any color you like) it will make it look much smoother -Tip: mask the outer edges so you don't screw the paintjob.

Here is a pic of the race fairing I'm building, next in programme is the belly and then tail and tank. Within this month I should have ready and painted the whole bodykit.
Any colours to suggest? I haven't decided yet, how's white pearl?

It would have been possible if I had the fairings from an F4, but I don't. Not to mention the price ....
