wow.....now, as you stated we dont know all the details, but that did seem a little excessive for skateboarding.  now, at no point should you ever run from a cop, which does nothing but escalate the situation and give them an excuse to use force to detain you.  skaters can be annoying, but those people who were standing there talking to him should not have been grabbed the way they were....we dont know why he was 'choking' the person in the first video, could have been just where he decided to hold him down...we do not know if he was resisting or not either, or if he had run like the others did.

Being arrested for skateboarding is complete BS!  I have been skating for over ten years. I have had plenty of run-ins with police. Most of the time they just run us out of the area. Sometimes we do it for them. When me and buddies have been stoped for skating the cops just usually ask for our ID to see if we have any warrents. Ive had threats from cops saying they will impound my board or give me a ticket. Fine, Ill pay the ticket. But there is absolutley no reason to arrest someone for skateboarding. Running or not. I have no problem with cops. My uncle is a cop and I thought about being one for awhile. But what I saw in that video is F'ed up! I didnt even see a handrail, bench or a ledge to even skate in the vid. Which lets me assume that he was just skating down the sidewalk. If scooters, bikes, rollerblades and other wheeled trasnsportation can cruse on the sidewalks then so can skateboards. Yes I know I dont know the whole story. Maybe the kid threatened to hit the cop or something. But what the cop did to the other kids was wrong. They are kids! There was more than one cop. The other cop could of played security to keep the other kids from getting in the way. I dont know! But what I saw in my opinion was F'ing wrong!

It seems to me the kids were asking for it/provoking to get a reaction so they could videotape it

. GRANTED  we don't know all the details... however when a cop tells you to do something...YOU FARKING DO IT, and then report his ass if it was abusive.
Running from the cops = you'll get your ass beat down.
Interfering while the cop is arresting someone else = you'll join your buddy in jail, and get your ass beat down.
Cops don't have tha luxury of knowing if the kis with the video camara is there to help them, or to attack them while they try to do their job in order for their "buddy " to be able to run away. so they have to treat evryone as a threat in that situation.

thats true, i know plenty of threatening 13 year old girls and boys. especially ones that stay seated when the cop runs off to beat on another little kid.

I see what youre saying. But they were still kids. Both of the cops were triple the size of the kids. He man handeled two of them. A threat? Come on.

in the video he was clearly out of control, man handling those 2 kids at the same time. They were just following around their friend that just got arrested for boarding.... nothing worth that kind of treatment....

haha my friend was watching a fight between 2 guys from school one day at someones house and about 20ppl where watching, when the cop asked what they were doing my friend said "we are having bible study sir" haha which led to him getting his ass kicked by the cop haha.  funny story, but getting your head split and kicked for saying "we are having bible study sir" is bullshit, even if it was a smartass remark ha

Yes, it proves every cop is like that, what's your point here? There are bad people in every profession and every part of society. You actually think that this one example makes every cop bad? You must be one of the *kids*.

Those kids were looking for trouble. And who knows that was a snapshot he couold have been holding him/her down and flip him over, ever watch COPs ive seen some pretty horrible ones they will usually use a knee to hold your face down. And once he arrested the first one and told the others to stay and he took off who knows that could couldve had a gun/drugs we dont know.

It's easy to sit at your keyboard and insinuate sweeping generalizations while claiming objectivity.  You have created a thread about a topic that was apparently well-intended (this officer absolutely needs to explain his behavior to the public and his superiors), but you post it in much the same way any other, "F*ck the police" threads are posted (which is something similar to, "see why we say cops are dicks").

Seems to be a problem with todays society.  People bitch and moan about every goddamned thing that doesn't seem to fit their universe and pretty soon every body's bitching and moaning about something.  So much so that when something worth actually bitching about happens, it's written off as just another mindless rant about this or that.

Personally, I think this specific topic deserves a more sincere touch.  I will forward this story to my local tv stations and see if something helps.

Will not comment as to the first child, treatment, because there is not enough evidence to form a true opinion as to what actually had occurred prior to the camera coming into play. The second child, who tried to flee the scene. I believe the officer's actions was in direct response to the child stating he had taken a photograph of the office choking the first child. Clearly by the time, the officer had returned to the initial scene adrenaline and testosterone levels had became to high for him to truly manage himself in a professional manner and had kicked into a defensive posture of trying to control the entire situation, which led to the excess force being used on the other two children after backup had arrived on the scene and he became a Little More composed. Not much though, he realized that they were video images all around, and it would be impossible to contain the entire situation like it could have been done a decade ago. I posted this below about another incident. I believe it still holds true

I would like to add something on the subject of law-enforcement bashing, and the support for them and the support for our military serving abroad. I fully support. Anyone who steps into Harmsway here or abroad . I have been duty station and have lived in some of the states with the most strict laws but I now find myself residing in a state which has fully earned its bashing or bad name . I'm speaking of the state of Georgia. The Atlanta Metro area Dekalb county has had a death or injury by officer involve shooting every 13 days over the last year.and it now has the FBI looking it to WTF is going on, And if you truly don't believe that law-enforcement harassment is not an equal opportunity employer. I suggest you visit one more county in the metro area, Cobb County. Especially precinct 2. I suggest you take a Friday night ride either on two wheels or four and make more than one trip down the parkway here. Especially towards the end of the month. I have no idea whether a quota really exists or not I will tell you from personal experience, having been stopped, more times that I can count just from being out on the highway around 11 o'clock at night. Now I've never been ticketed, nor have I ever been arrested. And I truly believe if I had not been on active duty. I would have probably been ticketed or jailed.for no reson other then to genrate revenue I HAVE THE UP-MOST RESPECT FOR ANYONE WHO DOES THEIR JOB WELL !! But it isn't police bashing. IF , it's just the truth.

Even an 8 yo kid can be a threat if he can drop a piece of wood with 2 metal trucks on the back of your head while you're kneeling on the floor trying to handcuff someone else. Yes the kids could be considered a threat if they had a hostile attitude towards the cops/were getting in the way of them doing a shiitty version of what their job should be. That was probably what was on their mind when they started getting short with the rest of hte kids.

Now I'm not saying what the video shows looks VERY BAD, it does, but you've also got to consider the source... when you control the video camara, you can show what is convenient to you, and edit out what you don't want others to see... do we really don't know that the kids are NOT showing us.

Also... just because some Yahoo on the 'net declares "it's skateboard day" doesn't mean that you can go and disregard city ordinance. If it was against city ordinance to skateboard in that particular area, then they should have gone to a skate park or something. unless it is a sanctioned event (for which you need the proper permissions from someone who actually has the authority to grant them)

I could post a website stating "It's national ride a wheelie week" and it wouldn't make it legal to lift your front wheel on a public road even if evry motorcycle rider in the world subscribed to the site and said "right on!"

I think Both parties acted incorrectly, (although i still think there might be more to this story than what we see from BOTH parties) but I'm more inclined to give the cops the benefit of the doubt, even though I am very well aware there are some pretty shitty ones out there. (i've had my fair share of run ins with those as well)

Another point.
If you (your mother,wife,etc..) had a real emergency in which you needed Police and called 911.  Would you want a fat guy like that to come "waddling" over?

Jeez....

Did someone say it's national ride a wheelie week?  When did that come up?  Hahaha, j/k.

I'm can't speculate on this.  I wasn't there to SEE IT for myself to be able to make any type of assumption.

there it is!!!! we have a winner!!! what took you so long thex. i was checking every 5 mins for your insightful response. we at CBR forum are soo very lucky to have somebody of superior intellect on this board to call us all kids. thank you. (by the way, same thing for you crenshaw)

in all seriousness folks, honestly. this video was only put up because there is absolutly no way that a normal person can watch that and say "the guy who posted this was a *kid*". but yet it happens. about 90% of the people that watched this thought the cop was in the wrong. i made no sweeping generalizations about all cops just as thex makes no sweeping generalizations about kid sport bike riders..... oh wait.

by the way, thats my point...

WhiteDealershipRice,

Like I said in the earlier post, "I see what you are saying."
But in no way did those kids ever become a threat to that cop. Skateboards in hand or not. Not once did they raise them in deffence or attack. Im sorry but I have to go with the kids on this one. And the main reason is for what he did to the two at the end. NOT NECESSARY!

And I do like where you are going with this so called "National Ride A Wheelie Week". Where do I sign?
