What do you guys think about the gorilla.......its a cheaper version with some of the same stuff scorpio has. Not looking to spend an arm and a leg. It has to sit outside for about a month and I live in el paso tx so they tend to get stolen here offten! I have a disc lock but not enough here!

Take it in the house with you. If someone really wants a bike, they will take it even if the bike is screaming at them.

I use to lock it in my patio but the apt complex is going to fine me for doing it......a fire hazard! I would but have a baby and dont really want it in the house. I know they will take it if they want but I would like to take as much measure i can for the next month or 2.

I actually like the Gorilla. A buddy of mine has one on his gixxer, and it works nicely. you so much as flick it it starts yelling at you

you could set the sensativity to where if somebody walk within X feet of it it screams, but then it would prolly never shut up

I think Gorillas are cool....they offer great protection, but they are very expensive to feed and clean up after. And also, be careful in case it turns on you.

I have the Scorpio, and i must admit it comes pretty handy. Installation is very easy, no wires cutting involved. It really gives me a peace of mind now. However must i add that, all alarm does absorb a lot of power from the battery so make sure that u ride your baby once in a while. I myself make sure that at least i warm it up 5 minutes every 2 days if i dont plan on riding.

How much is lo-jack? I live in Bedford TX and I'm worried about the bike being stolen as well (if I get one.) My auto insurance is high here because of theft, the guy from esurance said they steal cars quite a bit and take them to mexico and the insurance companies will never recover it...What if you lock it to the poles of parking lots or structures, do the just cut it? I never had to worry about it or didn't worry about it in Michigan...

I have a brand new Gorilla alarm for sale. The basic version (ie, non-paging one)...it is BRAND NEW..I bought it for like $100 plus s/h... but ended up not installing it so it has been sitting on my desk (I park my bike in the living room now, so I figure if they crawl in here, they'll see my XD45 before they see the alarm)...I can let it go for $70 shipped if you're interested. PM me.
PS. For sale ads is up in for sale section too..hehe..

Is lo-jack better than an alarm? I looked it up and rough guesstimate is 500+install. I imagine you could do both right as lo-jack is more of a recovery tool?

I had my bike stolen and it was recover in 2hrs. And lo-jack has it if they dont recover your bike in 24hrs they pay towards the purchase of a new one. BUt on top pf that you would still want an alarm although you get the lo-jack. So when lil johnny comes trying to steal your bike you can great him and wish him a farewell

Helping pay for a new bike would be worth it by itself. Insurance sucks and the second you have to make a claim they screw you over. My wife hit a pot hole in michigan with our car blowing out 3 rims, cracking the bumper and cracking the wheel well cover. They paid out 1200 bucks and now my insurance is about 70 bucks a month more because of it. First claim I have ever had in my life and no tickets/accidents on either of our records. I was with state farm since 2005. I hate insurance it's such a scam!

BTW the claim stays on us for 3 years meaning 36months x 70 a month=2520 which means not only do they make your payment initially higher because they know michigan roads suck they rape you the second you have to make a claim. So in the end they rape me on my insurance, rape me after I make a claim because I'm going to pay that 1200 bucks back + another 1320. Screw insurance, lo-jack is a need to keep from further getting ripped off!
lo-jack FTW!
