I have an 04 cbr1000rr red. I am debating between an arata full system and an akrapovic full system. The cbr is the heaviest of the japanese 1000s so i want to lighten it up a few and plus gain monster hp. any suggestions anyone? how about color wise? titanium or carbon fider would match the red cbr better?

My 2Bros CF lightened it up 6 lbs and gained 4 hp (I didn't have it dynoed, this is their number). The Micron is nice looking as well. How much weight do they say a full system will take off? As far as gaining monster hp I think it's realistic to gain maybe 6 hp max with just an exhaust system swap.

i dont know about mircons. i helped my friend install slip-ons on his 04 r1 and they were heavy! the reason i mentioned arata and akrapovic is bc they are full titanium systems.

The Akropovic is the most rediculous one I have seen for weight savings. I read in an exhaust review on 1000rr.net that it dropped 19 lbs with the full system.

Mine will be in Tuesday

D&D is crap. I've never heard of blueflame.

why is d and d crap? blueflame is awesome, my friend has one on his 636 and it sounds great

D&D's just don't seem to make any power on any brand of bike. The workmanship is medium at best and the sound is more raspy than deep. I got a 2Bros on my 1000rr - you can hear it on my site.

yeah, im not so keen on 2 bros. never liked them, but im glad you enjoy it. never had a d and d either but it's the only one that keeps with the dual hole pipe.

Ya, no big -- that's why they make so many different types. I do tend to doubt claims of 19lbs saved with a full exhaust. The stock headers are light -- it's the up tube and brick-like muffler that's heavy. If a full system drops 19lbs then ya gotta wonder how thin those tubes are and how long they'll hold up to heat/cool cycles.

I've had great success with 2Bros on all my bikes. When my Busa was mostly stock it made 162hp on dyno. Adding 2Bros full exhaust + PCII and small tinkering with the valve clearances yielded 174.5hp on same dyno. Had similar gains with a jet kit and 2Bros slip-on on an old Kan-a-toona.

In the end you gotta decide what you like best.

yeah, on second thought, ive had it with full systems and pc-ing bikes. i might as well just get a slip on that looks awesome. like the cbr needs any power anyways...

sato makes a great slip for the 1000rr. when you have a full titanium system its going to drop alot of weight period. the honda headers are very good to begin with so if you end up getting a good slip on it will save you some money.

I've recently been looking at the blueflame slip-ons as well. They do fit the under-exhaust style well, and I hear they're made well. Now that I see they sound good too, i might go that route come spring/summer. Anyone have any thoughts on Yoshimura exhausts ?

thanks for the comments guys. yosh exhaust looks weird, kinda like a dried out opening. hahaha

I tend to disagree. I'll be installing mine either tonight or tomorrow night.

Oh by the way, I also have two brand new Yosh slip-ons for sale if anyone wants one.

I have 1 stainless and 1 titanium...prices will be very good I guarantee!

Shoot me an email if interested todd@thecyclesource.com

Guys - my first post.

Just installed my Yosh RS-5 slip-on on my CBR 1000 today. The pipe connects below the exhaust control valve, so I took the controller, cables and servo spindle off the bike. After my scoot around the neighborhood, I thought there was a slight burble just off idle. What do you guys think? Should I try to fabricate something to put the exhaust control valve back? Does everyone remove it?

Leave it off. Burble could be low idle due to loss of back pressure from factory restrictive can. Too much slack on throttle cable can also cause off idle burps.

Thanks - Do you think the valve will reduce my mid range power, or is it really just an EPA / noise thing? Also, do I need some ECU work, or will the stock one compensate cause it's just a slip-on?

I like the fact that the RS-5 exits straight out the back and not crooked as many others do. Seems a shame to spend several hundred dollars on a state-of-the-art exhaust made from semi-rare materials then stick it on a cutting edge litre bike only to have it appear cobbled together from behind.

I've used Moriwaki on a previous RR and also on an R1 - very well crafted piece of kit. In the same league as Akrapovic, Arata, Arrow, and Sato. And not everyone and his dog has one.

Cheers

i was thinking b/t the moriwaki and akrapovic, but i decided on the arrow system instead

It could reduce low end torque a smidgen because you now have reduced back pressure. If you're racing people at 3000-4000 rpms you might see a difference. Low end torque is gained and lost on dyno paper -- rarely can be felt at the seat. You will gain mid range and top end power which you will feel.

I have an 05 1000rr i just took off most of my front end (tire, forks, front cowl) to replacec my blown fork seals, and while doing so i decided to buy a new exhaust, i bought the exhaust (yosh rs-5 full system), took off my old exhaust, took out the exhaust servo(1.8lbs) and cables, and i removed the flapper intake valve. i was then told that taking the servo out will turn on my FI (fuel injection) light. my bike is in pieces waiting for the forks to be done and i am not sure if i should put the stock exhaust back on or if i should put the yosh on and don't worry about the light or if the light will really come on. i've yet to turn the key on will it all apart because my speedo gauges are off also. and with the intake flapper valve which hose is it that has to be pluged? Any help would be great. thanks.
