Hey everyone. So, I need some help. I want to get my boyfriend some stands for his 2005 CBR1000RR for Christmas, but he usually buys these things and I have no clue what to buy. I am trying to figure out the best stands for his bike. I've Googled like crazy trying to find some info on what would work best. Of course I can go with the standard rear and front stands BUT he keeps mentioning he may need a Triple Tree stand for the front.
Anyone out there have a 2005 CBR1000RR that can tell me? What is a good stand to get?

I guess it all boils down to preference..some will say Pitbull and Jardine and others will say aftermarket this and aftermarket that..... i would look into something specifically designed for a Honda and not a universal especially now with different types of forks and what not out there....i would go with a PitBull my self if i had a choice...

I'd like to get something durable and functional. I am willing to spend the money I need to, I don't want something cheap, flimsy or dangerous. He spends a lot of time in the garage.
Do you guys think that I need the triple tree stand? How can I tell?

I've been searching the net like crazy and no site I've found makes mention of what type of stand I'll need..

You can fork out the cash when it comes to stands. Between $120 for the low end and closer to $400 for a good set of Pitbulls. I think it's about $130ish for the rear and $170ish for the front that lifts from the steering stem. If he's going to work on the bike a lot himself, and I don't mean oil changes and waxing it... you'd need the steering stem (triple tree) if you plan on rebuilding forks and such.
I have Vortex and still have not had anyone to give me an answer why Pitbulls are better, but Vortex cost a little less. About 120ish and 150ish. I've picked out a set of DMP for a friend because they look to be of the same quality and are around the same price.
Here's a link to look at DMP, Vortex and a few others. Most sites kill you on the shipping.

I have a t-rex rear stand and it works for me. The t-rex guy has a shop in Dallas and does most of his selling on EBAY. Does your BF's bike have spools? The guy at T-Rex will throw in a set of spools pretty reasonably also.
not sure about needing the triple tree stand. I only have the rear and it helps with most all of the maintenance needs. One thing I noticed on my Ninja, the spools the previous owner installed did not give much clearance and I scrapped my swingarm with the stand so I put having the correct spools on the bike as important as having the right stand.
