Nitrous

I am considering adding nitrous to my 02 954rr. Has anyone done this? Any ideas?

Do you have a death wish? If you're looking for more power go with smaller upgrades. I don't know what you have already, but a pc, full exhaust system, new valves, etc should be first if you havent already. Just my .02

He is right do all the mods you can be for you consider nitros.Mainly because nitros works best on a modified engine.That baby needs to have free flowing exhaust to make full use of nitros. also good idea to retard the ignition.But be careful nitros is not as forgiving as a turbo. Nitros can only be used at full throttle.And if you run it lean say good by to that moter.

Agreed with both the last two comment nitros should be the last thing on your mind do all other mods before even attempting to put ntiros onto your bike.

A 40-60hp dryshot would be a relatively simple install and is fairly reliable. You'd need to add a PCII to take out timing -- this would need to be tuned on a dyno. Exhaust is no biggie. While you'll benefit more from a slip on or full system the stocker+NOS yields sleeper benefits. If you're at all mechanically inclined do the install yourself and then run it to the dyno tuner to tune. No - don't hit the juice button until it's tuned.

A wet shot system will give you more ponies but is a lot more unforgiving if it isn't tuned right. Read: bent rods and holed pistons.

For a little more you could go turbo and never have to fill a bottle

Yeah, I agree with chainstretcher. NOx can be a stand alone upgrade and the need for engine work , e.g., valves, is reduced with NOx--because so much extra oxygen is being forced/burnt in the combustion chamber effecient operation is less of an issue. Essentially, NOx works like forced induction, you are adding much more O2 to the air/fuel mixture than can be done with natural aspiration. Thus, much like Supercharging or Turbocharging the most important things to do are add extra fuel and retard timing. When nitrous is injected you are leaning out the mixture a lot. Make sure that it is tuned so that it does not blow something up or run so lean that it gets too hot in the combustion chamber and burns something up. Oh, and a nitrous backfire can do really cool (bad) stuff so be careful with it. I would put on the exhaust... it'll work better and hell a litre bike ain't no sleeper anyhow!

Having said all this, I have two (2) friends with NOx on their 'Busas and they have both been very reliable street bikes... and are stupid fast.
