As much as I hate to say this...

I left the apartment.
got onto Buckingham and came to a T intersection.
My light turned green and I continued to make my right turn.
Somebody was in a big hurry in the left lane of Audelia and ran their red-light.
To avoid them I had to sharpen my turn and slow down... and the tires were cold.
I laid it down at about 20-MPH
I'm fine.
Only a few cherry's on my knee & hip and one bruise on my right elbow.
the helmet took a little beating, my Jacket is torn up, and my boots & jeans are trash... but that's why I wear my gear ;)

damage so far looks like the list of damaged parts I can see right now is mostly cosmetic
Rt. Mirror (probably find it on E-bay for cheap.)
Rt. Bar end (and possibly clip-on, need to look.but that's cheap stuff.)
rt side upper and lower fairing. (the expensive parts. what I found on E-bay was already a little scratched.)
Right side Rear-set (no biggie... I have my vortex.)
That's really it... no other damage.

What makes this so ironic. is I have ordered frame sliders.
They were going to be installed this weekend. So if I did lay it down, It'd be a $20 piece of plastic. not all of this.

Good thing also was that I didn't have my new rear-sets installed (those puppies are $450)

Nobody stopped and even checked on me. so I couldn't get any witnesses.
I left pretty scratch marks on the concrete though!

Damn it man. Sorry to hear about that. I'm glad you are ok though. Metal & plastic can be fixed. Glad to hear you had your gear on. It pisses me off when something like that happens and nobody stops or offers to help. You know someone else had to have seen what happened, but couldn't be bothered. Get that bike back together soon.

Glad you're o.k. Really sux that you gotta take a fall due to an idiot that didn't even stop I'm thinkin we need to invest in some bike hardware like Chuck Norris had in 'Delta Force' -- ya know, ROCKETS!!!

I wish you and the bike a speedy recovery -- let me know if ya need anything. I have a source for new plastics up in WV named Kathy -- her company used to be reasonable (compared to stealerships) but I haven't talked to her in a while.

Thanks all
I'm easily finding replacement parts for the cheap stuff.
I'm just trying to not pay $680 for the mid and lower fairing.
Everything else is easy-peasy
The fairings is what's causing the issue...
Anyone wanna hand over the mid and lower fairing to a 1000RR?!?

I found one on E-bay for $900 which is ALL plastics! Even tank, tail, fender... turn signals... everything!
So if someone is wanting to repair a scratch or something that they have... I may go into a deal with them (as long as they don't steal my right side fairings :D )

anyone?

please?

I found Ebay has a few "body kits" floating around for different bikes..usually it is a racer who takes all the stuff off since it is going to be a RACE BIKE only and the fairing sale is the money needed to get all the race bodywork and such..those are GREAT DEALS if you can find them

Hey dude, I am new here, but I feel your pain, phisically and mentally. I bought my new 1krr two weeks ago Friday and did the same on cold tires on the following Monday, with only 30 miles on it. I got a few estimates from local body shops about repairing my lower and mid fairings and one shop told me they will repair the plastics and paint the entire bike for $500.00. I will post some pics soon.

Repair and paint for $500 ?? Geez -- that's a damn good price!! Most shops won't touch body work for under $1000 let alone re-paint.

That is true about ther cost to work on stock fairings...the biggest P.I.T.B. ( pain in the butt) is getting the stock decals off. They are on there and not designed to come off (without a fight)

Yes I know , I had to go to many, many body shops and got estimates that were much higherthon $500. U just have to look hard.

use a heavy duty industrial heating element/hair dryer...my friend wrecked his F4i and used one to take the stickers off and have it painted all black...said the stickers bubbled up and pealed right off...jus gotta be careful about the thin line between bubbling stickers and deforming bodywork

I feel your pain man, back when I bought my 99' CBR900RR (New) I had it for 2 days and I high sided it, coming out of my driveway on to the road, heading to work at 6:30AM.

Left engine case was cracked, so oil spilled everywhere, foot peg broke off, gas tank had a huge dent plus other cosmetic damage, I realized you don't have to be doing 100MPH to cause extensive damage, this was maybe 20-30MPH as you can imagine.

Anyhow, glad you're ok and no worries, your 1000RR will not be any slower, and that's what it's all about right ?!?!?!?
