Yup, the dealer came and picked up my '07 Repsol last week and had the tank replaced and the bike back to me the next day. Still haven't gotten a recall letter yet. My VIN was in the suspect group.

I bought a new 2007 Honda CBR1000RR on 11-27-2007 from Marysville Powersports in Marysville, OH. The day the e-mail was sent out from Honda to all dealers issuing a stop sale notice. Nice of them to tell me that!!! They ordered me a new tank due to this recall, but could not tell me if my bike fell in the recall status with the VIN number. Where can I check this info?

OK, the recall letter arrived in the mail today, Dec 24th.
I tried the link to the Honda site posted earlier and it show's there are no recall notices on my VIN!
I think that's called getting the cart in front of the horse.............

WTF?
I just checked at http://www.ahm-ownerlink.com/Maintenance/maint_recalls.asp
Did a recall search on my vin # and came back as:
quote:
There are no current safety recalls for your 2006 Honda Cbr1000rr.
There's a thread on 1000rrdotnet that had my vin listed as being affected.
Concerned about safety? So is Honda. That's why Owner Link provides up-to-date recall information about your vehicle. Because Owner Link recall listings are based on your Honda's Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), they are specific to your vehicle.
Recall information for Honda motorcycles, ATVs, Scooters and Personal Watercraft is only available on Owner Link for recalls issued since October 2003. There are no current safety recalls for your 2007 Honda Cbr1000rr.
If you experience problems or you have further questions,

This is what they said about my VIN too!!!! NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!! What kind of re-course would I have with a dealer that sold me my Honda CBR 1000RR on the day (11-27-2007) the recall came out for a STOP SALE of all 2006-2007 CBR 1000RR's? A**holes trying to make another buck and then play stupid the day it was sent. I AM PISSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I Took my 06' 1k to the dealer today and yes I needed a new tank. Well they got me a new tank and guess what? The new tank failed the inspection too. So they had to get another new tank. Well finally that one passed. So I got mine taken care of.

I would definitely have it replaced. My bike is my main transportation too. If that is your case...better to be safe than sorry. I would hate to see you riding a fireball down the road.

They replaced the tank. From what the dealer told me they replace all the tanks regardless. Three other bikes where in and all where replaced at the time mine was done.

Yes get it in there. Call ahead. I called around to see who could do it while I waited. Explain to them that it is your main way to get around. The place I bought it from said I had to leave the bike all day or maybe 2. I called another dealer and they said sure bring it right in. Even though they tried to talk me into trading my bike in with all the work I have done to it and buy a Busa or a ZX-14. Sure they are nice bikes but I have to much money and time put into mine to just up and leave it like that.

Wassup,
I have a 06 1000rr, I haven't seen a notice as yet for the recall. Does this recall cover all the 06 models or just certain VIN's?
JonJon
12/28/2007 9:09:16 AM
I am not sure right off hand. I would call a dealer and ask or even just get it checked anyways. The dealer I went to did not even want to see my recall notice they were checking every 06' and 07' that came in.

Just spoke with my local Honda Dealer here in Columbus, OH. They have two tanks in stock. Mine will be dropped off first thing in the morning. They will have it for half a day. I told them for what I just paid for it, they aren't doing just an inspection to SEE if it needs replaced....I want it replaced!

Ahhh the good old days of living in Columbus. I miss Donato's Pizza. They have one in Orlando, but I am not driving an hour just to get pizza. Maybe someday someone will open one out here on the beach. GO BLUEJACKETS.

Lol...just ate a Big Don Italian Sub, side order of breadsticks, and a salad with ranch dressing. Very Good!!! I guess the location in Hilliard is the busiest Donatos in the state of Ohio. Great pizza when you are trashed.

Whats up fellas'. Got a question I think I know the answer to, but figured I would ask anyway before I call the dealership. I assume when they replace the tank, they are just replacing the steel bladder inside that actually holds the gas. I assume they do not replace the upper (cosmetic/plastic) part of the tank. Is this correct? Reason I ask is, I bought my rig used and the kid before me put a nice little nick in the plastic upper cosmetic/painted part of the tank right near the fuel filler cap. I was kinda hoping for some reason they had to replace that part as well for obvious reasons. Thanks- and thanks for all the other info. Honestly I just bought my 06' a couple of months ago, and haven't registered it yet (so Honda wouldn't be able to find me to send me the recall notice). If it wasn't for this forum, I would be totally clueless as to this issue.
