Oil Change - Semi Sythetic or Fully Synthetic

Just bought a 2005 CBR1000RR with 300 miles on the clock.
The engine isnt even fully run in.
I am going to change the oil immediately, so I was wondering should I use fully synthetic, or use semi-synthetic for a 1000 miles or so, then change to fully synthetic?
Or what would you guys recommend?
Any advice would be appreciated.

You do not want to use a blended or full ysynthetic oil yet or you will not get the propper break in done. Use the same oil theat Honda does, I think it's HP4, until about 1200 and change to a blended synthetic. Blended synthetic at 2000 and then fully synthetic at 3000.
This is what I follow, give take a couple hundred.
what i was told by a professional mechanic.... (over 30 yr working on bikes).......change to synthetic at 3000 miles.............slight variation to wheelieit's but basically the same.

i changed mine at 270- came out like water-from a friends who works for american honda- the factory oil is break-in-mine came out like water-no shavings though,i used honda gn4 petroleum and will change it again @600 and will go to full synthetic @1000- i was told this was fine and to use petroleum for proper seating of rings for the first 1000 miles-phil

Yes, you should use the petroleum oil for your break in. Then I always go to a synthetic blend because petroleum oil and fully synthetic do not like to blend really well. I will use the synthetic blend once or twice before going to the fully synthetic. Best way to describe is trying to mix oil and water, extreme example, but affective. This way when you drain your oil you will get all the mix out of your bike.

AAWWWWW, crap, going to have to change my oil again. Just changed it this weekend to full synth. Seems like you guys are saying that I need to step into synth instead of jump right to it.
WHY?

I've got 7000 miles on the bike now and have ran nothing but Synth/Petrol blend. Bikes runs great, no worries.

I run full synthetic in mine. Honda oil ht-4 i think it is. Runs like a charm.

I just did my first oil change (595 on the clock) and I was about to cry when I saw all those metal shavings coming out of the engine. I just used HP-4 (synth/petro blend without Moley) just like the service manual calls for.

i would do an engine flush when swtiching to fully synthetic. Example. put in fully systhetic with new filter, rev engine for 5 mins, drain out and put new oil and filter.

for what it is worth the sythetic.
has a problem when the bike is stored from all i can find out. if the bike sets for weeks and not fired up the syntetic is so slick it tends to fall off of the cramk bearings leaving you with a dry bearing when you crank up. their is nothing wrong with using sythetic in the summer when you ride all the time but i would not seat it up for cold weather storage with it. just some research i done on the oils
