i havent really pushed the rpms on my bike to redline (13k) and im curious as to how its setup.
is there a rev limiter? is it set to the begginning, middle, or end of redline(or what rpm)?
does it shut off fuel with the ignition, or is it just like a normal limiter?
is it like that nasty bikegonnablow burnout "whaapwhaaaaapwhaaaaapwhaaaaaaap" sound like those supercool stunters pull when they get bored.
thanks for enlightenment.

I only hit it once to see, and if I remember, it kicks in right at redline. I believe it cuts spark and fuel.

I am bouncing off the rev limiter once or twice a day. I only have 4,300 miles.

yes, it's like a normal rev limiter. "wwwhhaaabbaabbbaabbabbbabba". It wll stay there if you hold the throttle .

Don't be afraid to redline your bike. from factory, rev limiters are very conservative. The engine can take more.

I have a video of my bike holding at 13,700rpm, but not actually bouncing off the rev limiter.

My redline is at 14,250. Rev limiter is a bit higher. I was on it a couple of times at the track. Didn't notice except to notice that I wasn't getting any more acceleration. I does sound different though. You can actually feel it cut in/out/in/out. Doesn't disturb the chassis, it's that gentle.

Did Honda move the redline down on the newer bikes?

Hit it many a time.

I always feel pretty stupid afterwards.

its a honda, you can bang it off the revlimiter alot without anyproblems. My bike still has the original motor from 02 and has had many of revlimiter coasters done on it and it still runs like a champ..

Don't feel stupid, bro. Sometimes its reassuring to hear it cuz theres been times where it seems like the only limits the sound barrier! I cant recall if it was my old 600 or current 954, but one of them kicked outta gear on its own when bouncin the limiter!!! Ya, I guess an upshift woulda avoided this but was needing to stick a pass at the entry to a 2nd gear corner. Woulda worked too, but the clunk upset my balance and therefore would also recommend against it.

isnt there like a lil red light that will pop up as well? cant you move the shift light down or no?

yea i just replaced some crank bearings that where spun from someone this opinion and honda didnt warranty due to "excessive RPM" so I dont know if u are completly accurate hashemi

as far as i know, the f4i shift light can not be changed. my buddies zx10r can be changed to what ever you want, in i think 2-400 rpm incriments

wow....hitting the rev limiter doesn't harm the bike eh? just WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!
why even have one? why is it there in the first place?

come time to do the valves, when everyon else's valves are in spec...yours will need adjusting...and it's no fun on a honda.
