Plug in tire

I got a hole in my rear tire and plugged it. Is that safe? I didnt want to trash it since it is a Pirelli Supercorsa. Any comments?

should be ok i did the same yo mine and it eas held for over 4 months now and that is going over 100 plus more than 40 times with plug in

Not safe for over 100mph. Once its been puntured and plugged you actually lose ratings on the tire. Get a new one when you can. Keep the old one for some burnouts.

I too have a plug in my rear tire. The truth is that with a plug in your tire front or rear you are always putting yourself @ extra risk. You really should replace the tire in the near future. Your tires are rated for certain speeds under specific conditons but this is only true with undamaged tires. Once your tire is compromised by a nail or other object you should pay extra attention to how you are using your bike (speed, burnouts, etc). I'm not going to tell you that you can't go 100+ mph but it isn't a good idea. Your tires heat up dramaticly as you ride faster. The heat softens the shell of the tire creating more grip. "Key word" --> softens. As the heat builds up the tire will expand / grow which can cause the plug in your tire to become unstable which can cause sudden loss of pressure and tire failure that can be harmful to your health (notice the slight sarcasm). I have never gone over 100 mph with this plugged tire and wont until I have it replaced. It just isn't worth the risk. My bike is mint condition and I want to keep it that way. PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO YOUR TIRE PRESSURE. CHECK IT EVERYTIME BEFORE YOU RIDE.

yeah, get a new one. Doesn't matter how nice of a tire it is or how much it costs, it's not worth losing control if the plug fails and causes a blowout. I just replaced a brand new tire with 600 miles on it because I had a drywall screw in it.
