Preference on sliders vs. mild cage.

So I'm trying to decide what to get for my F4i. At first i wanted a good set of sliders but a buddy of mine might be getting a killer deal on some tygershark cages since the bike place he works at wants to start carrying some stunt parts. I was thinkin on getting the standard street cage since I don't want a full out cage but want the best protection for my bike incase something happens which I'm sure it will in due time. I like the tygershark standard street cage b/c it's fairly mild and it's spring loaded to help absorb some of the shock. Also, I'm trying to figure out if the spring loaded slider would do more damage incase of it tipping over would it give it enough bounce to throw it back on the other side? I'm getting into a few mild stunts but I due some highway/twistie riding as well. I don't have enough money to invest in having two bikes so I'm trying to figure out the best balance of both. A full out cage is too gaudy (sp?) but I've seen plenty of occasions where sliders didn't help much. well, 1st off the spring loaded cage is definately NOT going to bounce your bike over to the other side, lol. if you wreck hard enough sure the bike w/ or w/o the spring loaded cage has the possibility to flip and kart-wheel around though.
 
what i know about cages (know a couple stunters), you'll lose some ground clearence if you get the bike over far. also, you'll have to cut more holes, instead of just cutting two for a pair of sliders.
 
i'd say go w/ the sliders.

i'm having some trouble imagining how these would look/fit on a bike.. anyone have a pic?

a buddy of mine has a stunt cage on his '01 F4i. i'll scrounge up a pic for you really quick......

Unless you plan to fool around on the bike...stunt even a little, get the cage. If you just plan to ride, get the sliders and be happy. Once you put on a cage, your plastics will be locked in place unless you take the cage back off...so their a pain in the ass unless you go w/o plastic.

Get a cage!!!  And go for the lifetime warranty stunt cage, same clearance just a little heavier but a lot tougher!!!!  I have had 2 tygershark cages and they rock, the first saved the frame on my f4 and I just got my new one on my f4i....

If you plan on wheelies at all I would even go cage, I looped a 50 mph wheelie and I was amazed how good of condition the cage left my bike....they are a good insurance policy, and you can always send it in for a new one if it gets beat up....

I think tygershark is great, a lot of guys running them...

The shock absorbing sliders are the smartest invention in a while, I am amazed at how much they absorb the drop alone....

Thanks everyone! I still haven't decided yet. I'm planning on practicing some stunts this summer. Not getting crazy but still got some stuff in mind. I just noticed that it only bolts up in 2 spots so I only have to drill in the plastic's once on each side. I didn't notice that before. That definately helps my predicament. haha.

On the street, a cage is much more likely to flip your bike around in a crash, and cause damage to the tank, upper and tail.  They are much better for stunting.

Get the cage, Chicks won't care if you got sliders or a cage and it seems like it would offer a little better protection.
