I just got done tearing down, cleaning, and rebuilding my carbs.  They look fantastic... but can't get it running.  How do you prime the carbs when the whole system is totally dry?  Some fuel got to the bowls, and it back fired really loudly a few times, but wouldn't start.  Plugs looked okay- good spark, clean air filter.  Any ideas? Yeah, well, its a funny thing, just trying start the bike should be enough to get petrol to all the right places.
But often you get fuel vapour lock, mainly because it requires the bike to kick & fire enough to draw the air out of the system, and draw the fuel into the barrel to fire. A lot of people will just pour petrol down the throat of the carbie, but I don't reckon its a good idea. There are a number of products on the market that can help here, usually in an aerosal spray can. Don't know wot brands you have there, Australians are a bit more literal & use a product called "Start ya Bastard" but you get the idea.

I think I love Australia now more than ever!  That is an awesome product name!  I'll try some starter fluid and see what happens.  Thanks Pacemaker!
