hey guys i just had a simple question, and im sure its going to get laughs outa a lotta people =] i'm a noobie rider but i have over 2000 miles clocked on my ninja250. i wanna move to a cbr, and i might be later one this year, but i h wonder if there are any hard luggage options for the bike. i know ventura makes a rack for the bike, but i'm not sure if anyone has had any experience with it. i plan on doing some road trips, and thought a givi case might come in handy to store a few things. any suggestions?
i've looked into soft luggage options, but i'm more comfortable with the ability to lock things up....

One can simply take the car....or get a removable saddlebag 3 piece system but i would really recommend a hard bag system on a sprtbike..once you get a CBR youll understand why...

HaHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Seriously though, that would throw the whole ergonomics of the bike off and with your limited riding experience the CBR is a lot of bike. Couple that with the "luggage" and that imbalance situation is a recipe for getting you seriously jacked up.

I've looked quite a bit for locking hard luggage for my 954 and there's not much out there without getting custom. There are a few for the 600 (look at corbin) but they are very limited choices and pretty expensive unless you customize it yourself. My suggestion if you really want a "semi" sportbike and still want a Honda and still want locking hard luggage is to look at the Honda VFR ... there are a lot more hard luggage options out there for that bike.

Hard, soft , backpack, tank bag. regardless, at the end of the day your best bet is to take them in to your motel /tent / whoever lets you spend the night's room.
(If you can get away with it, getting a motel room onthe first floor lets you bring the bike itself in as well, priceless for the peace of mind that it'll be there in the morning)

Installing bags don't change ergonomics at all. Ergonomics are based on seat, hand, and foot positions. What it CAN do is change your center of gravity and weight bias from front to rear, but not enough to bother you much.
I would look into a soft bag system since you are not going to find a readily available hard bag solution without getting into something custom made.

my tank and tail bags are hard. but they are setup like a soft bag system. the only thing they interupt in your riding is that you cant tuck in behind the windscreen.

ventura has been making racks for all bikes and they also sell racks for this model bike as well, i was just wondering if it will be weird looking. i use this as my everyday bike at college work and everything else, so being able to lock up my jacket and helmet in this texas heat is a must. it would be so inconvenient otherwise. thanks for your help!

Those are nice but by hard really mean more "locking" ... the ones you have look like the whole thing can still easily be taken off the bike. Like azn mentioned, the main purpose is for quick visits in stores and such when you don't want to carry stuff with you ... yes, anything can still be taken if someone wants it bad enough but the hard luggage that locks (by locks I mean also locks to the bike itself) makes it more difficult. The yamaha FJR has the perfect luggage system imo: They not only match perfectly (color and looks to the bike) but they also have a nifty feature in that you can either lock it and leave it or you can pull out the internal luggage shell (for hotel use or whatever, which also locks) and carry that part if you don't want to leave it on the bike and you can still leave the outer hard luggage case on the bike (and lock your helmet in it).
Like I said, I've searched all over and have yet to find anything close to that without getting customized and/or very expensive.

yeah breeze your right. it doesnt lock to the bike, but its a nice setup anyway. the bags are made of hrad material. they are easily removable. both have backpack straps as well. so if going into the grocery store is at hand then it can removed and carried in. you are definatley right. if your looking for a luggage rack system then this is not for you.

well man, i dont thinks its all that bad. i dont have the rack though. if i got the rack i would ave to make sure it was able to be taken off easily for those fast rides and track days.

It doesn't look bad at all. And with a little modification you could actually mount hard saddlebags to that bad boy.
Not bad at all.

i agree with you man, thing is, i do plan on takin it to the track WHEN i build more riding experience. since im still a newbie, and i use this as an everyday thing, the box is so much more useful for leaving things on the bike while at school or work. also, for now i can simply just take the box off and leave the mount on the bike until i need to use it, because god forbid i woud leave the box on there all the time its not exactly the best lookin thing, but thanks so much for your feedback guys it really does help. just wanted to know if anyone has had any experience with it thats all, but yea, once i take it to the track i'll just take the screws off and remove the rack, dont think i woudl wanna do twisties with a box bolted to my butt haha =] but i appreciate seeing people who are willing to help and be open minded.....
thanks again f3racer!

yea its amazing how all of a sudden they have a sport bike and automatically assume other people who want to use it for practical purposes is frowned upon. i'm glad there are people out there who still just love to ride and are open to everyone.... thanks buddy i really do appreciate it =]

well when people say things like what skical said doesnt automatically mean its frowed upon. its just his opinion.
when i went to SWAT school one of my instructors gave me some advice. he said "alot of people will teach you alot of different things, it doesnt mean that one thing is right or one thing is wrong, take what you have learned, put it in your tool bag, when the time comes you just might need that other tool that your not used to using"

I never thought I'd say it, but I'm in total agreement with skical - that does look like hell. Please if you do that do your bike don't ever ride near me as I'd surely crash from laughing my ass off.

... and gives Sport Riding a bad name. I hope you are on you way to a KOA Campground with that rack. You'd fit-in perfectly with that crowd. I'm still laughing.
