Just bought an F4 and I have no history records on the bike. Seems to run well, has a slight tick in the engine. First gear(in the tranny) has a bit of a whine to it but it shifts OK. It has 26K on it but has been geared down so I am thinking its closer to 20K?

Question. What service interval would you guys have done to it to have it looked over? I know they can be expensive, but I want to make sure this bike is all good. Would the 16K be overkill? Shop wants 280 plus parts to d it (would include valve adjust labor if needed, would have to pay for the shims)

Thanks for your help all!

I would do the most extensive service that is due around your total mileage. That way you will be confident that everything is up to specs and your bike will be as "fresh" as you can make it.

If you have no history i`d agree with 05tribal, do the 16k service which will include valve clearance etc then you know everythings sorted. That is... if your keeping it for a while.

Thanks for the quick replies. Is 16 K the most comprehensive?

Is there a place online that shows service intervals and what they do to the bike?

Thanks
