why do stators fail?

none, i dont really know why they fail (burn).

Sorry, I didn't mean to be an a-hole.
 
I guess the answer is s**t breaks. Moving parts, wires break, things vibrate loose, tolerances change, friction, sunspots, heat and cooling thousands of times, Really the question should be is 'how do they work so well?'

lol i gues you're right, i had to replace mine (again) after like 6 or 7 months so i guess its just like a tune up, replace spark plugs, air filter, oil filter and oh the stator lol.

Two failures in less than a year? That is a different story.
 
I had a car that had a bad ground that would take out alternators/batteries until I figured it out. I don't really understand the subtle differences in the charging systems (between a bike and a car), but I would start there if the battery is healthy. Thanks for the clarification, good luck with finding the problem.
