Hi all,
Thank you for your responses to my earlier question regarding choosing between RR vs F4i. I have decided to go with RR after being to couple of dealerships in Houston area. However the numbers they are running seem too high. I have got quotes from $10000 to $9970 OTD. What do you think about the numbers and do you know any dealership in Houston with better price?
Thanks,
maakif

WHOA! way too high. i know that you are probably trigger happy and wanting a bike right now, but MUCH better deals are out there. the msrp on the 06 600rr is $8999. looks to me like they are trying to charge you msrp, tax, and about $500 in fees. thats a horrible deal. and don't let them talk you into it saying things like, "its brand new and everyone wants one. this is the price they are and this is what we sell them for." ive seen this crap alot.
in all honesty, you should be able to get a bike out the door for the original msrp. tell them that its an $8999 bike and thats all you are willing to pay. thats with tax, document, and set-up/freight fees. and if they're not willing to do it, go somewhere else. you may have to shop around for a few weeks but you will be able to save about a grand or so. to me, saving that amount of money is worth the wait.
and i have no idea of dealers in houston. hope this helps

another option would be to call around to any and all honda dealers within driving distance and ask them if they have any holdover 2005 models. they're still new and you can save a bunch of money over a 2006. that's what i would do, but i'm a cheap ass and look for any way to save money! good luck

Heimlich maneuver... help... I'm chocking on this one...
No, seriously... I found a lot of RR's in my area for 10,000+. All at the cycle worlds and so on. But they had chrome rims and swings arms and so on. I had to find a Honda of "insert city here" to get a good price. 9300 OTD with 4 year warranty.

Actually, I did inquire on the 2005 and they are charging the same as 06s. I 've been to three dealerships already and more or less they are not coming down on the price. I think because to X-mas they are hoping to cashing in but I am not desperate. I waited years I can wait couple of weeks or more.
Thanks for you tip.

Just sit down with the salesman and take out your checkbook. Tell him you want the 600rr and you are going to write him a check for $9000. Give him the check and see what he does. If he tells you the bike is yours you paid one dollar over invoice. If he doesn't sell you that bike take back the check and start to leave. You will have him the sales manager begging you not to leave. Just show him the check and tell him this is what I am going to pay for this bike. if you don't want sell me the bike I will find someone who will.

Both seem WAY low.
FYI...buy your bike the last day of the year. Or at leasts try....30th if closed on 31st.....last chance for them to hit 1 more unit....some salespeople/managers/f&i's get bonused at a volume (ie they have 9 for the month; 39 for the year....1 more equals 1k more in their pocket....are more willing to work with ya....got they down $500 from where they were only days earlier\
So excited for ya!!!!

I bought a 2004 F4i, brand new this year for $7,700.00. My man bought his 2005 RR, brand new for $8,500.00 and his brother's 2005 F4i, brand new was about $8,000.00....those prices are crazy!

The prices are probably accurate, you just found two dealers looking to move some bikes before years end. There are companies out there the will go to the dealership, pick up the bike and deliver it to your door for about $600.
My $.02... I would call your local dealers and let them know the pricing you just got. Tell them you would prefer to stay local, have your bike serviced by them, blah-blah-blah, but they need to come to Jesus on their pricing. There is a lot of money to be made on service, aftermarket parts, etc so give them the choice of selling you a bike at a fair price and starting relationship or losing years of potential business.

Good point, call the dealership and see if they can come close to the prices. If they don't... warranty maintenance isn't restricted to the dealer you buy from...

Thanks guys. I will call the dealer and report back to you guys. I am hoping it's the X-mas thing - where they think people are desperate to have the bike before X-mas.

Alright folks,
I acted on your advise and went to the dealerships in Houston area and they are not budging below $ 9100 OTD. They would rather loose business than loose profit. I don't know what to do it is very disappointing.

I don't have any personal experience with Sothern Honda, but have heard good things about them and that they do indeed honor their web prices. The only thing I heard was that you had to call and make sure it was still in stock and "reserve" it for pickup.
I do not know what reserving it means, but I would assume some sort of down payment.
A lot of guys on a Goldwing forum I go to have used them and report good things about them.

Hi all,
Happy to report that today I got my 06 CBR600 RR (Red & black). The dealer was not bringing the price down from $9490 but finally agreed to let it go for $8999 OTD. I was planning to go to southern Honda in TN, by the time you drive 800 miles one way, add 6.25 state Tax and lodging there wasn't much savings. Therefore, decide to pay extra $500 and save myself from traveling all the way to TN.
I rode back home from the dealership......it purs. I will post the pictures of my new toy in coming days.
Best regards and thank you for your advices.

congrats on the bike.... you got it out the door for MSRP, that's good in my opinion. Now try not to have too much fun while you're in the break in period.
