Thinking of retiring the CBR from the street and going track. Anyone know if there are racing pistons/cams/ etc. made for the F4i? I already have a bid on some racing plastics and a new windscreen since some tracks frown on double bubbles. I googled a search on racing kits and came up blank quite a few times. (Besides, I think you guys are a better search engine anyway.)

That sounds pretty cool. By chance would you know who manufactured them? I'm looking at Armour Bodies right now.

armour bodies is great stuff, just stay far far away from hotbodies
just remember whatever you get to check the clearance between the lower fairing and exhuast, i've got a nice black burn spot on my lower lol a piece of foil tape took care of it
the only problem with double bubble screens is that some race orgs don't allow them in stock classes because it gives an aerodynamic advantage over stock profile
I've got a DB for trackdays and a standard profile for racing
skip the engine work though unless you just have a crapload of money to burn

yo...if you're retiring street, and going track...then do your suspension first...then when you can corner well and everything and still need more power...then bust the HRC kit...but if you're not racing, only tracking it, you do not need to go that route.

Does HRC offer suspension kits or how about Öhlins? Thanks for the advice tahoe.

DAMN MANG! you should've posted up earlier!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
there was an a few ohlins rear for sale for F4i...like 550, usually run 1000-1200! oh mang...keep an eye out...
yes, you want ohlins springs up front and ohlins, penske or elka rear shock...and you want the spring set up for your weight plus weight of the bike...
you'll also want to revalve the front...i would recommend racetech gold valves or ohlins kit...it's up to you mang...
have a suspension shop build it for you with aftermarket internals but use OEM rubber parts and seals ok?!?!?!
front rebuild to super track worthy will be like 600 bucks, including oil, labor, and parts...rear...you just need to get it...i bought the cheaper penske for like 700...rides much better than stock! they will dial it in for you if you have suspension work don...in total, i say you'll spend at most...1500 on suspension if you buy new and much less if you can get that ohlins rear used! you'll want 46prxls...but cls will work too! the x has more adjustments...don't need unless you're like AMA racing...
after this, you'll feel like your bike is riding on rails...then you hit up the HRC stuff for the straight away so you kick arse in turns AND coming out of the hole and straight!
suspension is important cause if it's not set up right, when you hit the turns, the suspension bottoms out and you can't lean as hard, and you run wide coming out of turns. woodyracing can give you tons of advice as he built his f4i for tracking it...but his shite is always broken! hahahah
don't forget the rearsets mang! or else you'll be dragging the stock around corners.

damn you tahoe!!! its doin good now other than needing new engine bearings!
lol
call John @ CTR suspensions (cycletechracing.com is the website) and he'll tell you what can/should be done, how much it'll cost, etc
he's done all my suspension work on my F4i and he's gonna be doing my SV650 race bike this weekend
tahoe's right with the costs of suspension but be careful when buying a used shock, I bought one on ebay and the internals were basically garbage, and the spring on it wasn't what they said it was so I spent every penny I thought I had saved having it re-worked and getting the correct spring on there

Rogering up on the suspension. Doing my research now. This forum is the best for that.
Oh, yeah....Woody, what's wrong w. Hotbodies? Any other bodywork one should stay away from?

lol yeah, picked up an 05 SV650 from Ghetto Customs (came in 2nd in the SV Cup races @ RA this year)
its been crashed and needs a few things but for the most part is a good race bike plus its got an 06 motor that hasn't gotten too many miles on it yet, my only problem with the SV is that the motors in the 03-06s are fairly fragile but it should get me through a year in WERA SE region doing LWT classes
http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d33/ghettocustoms_/IMG_0113.jpg anyway,
hotbodies is just all around garbage, there have been a bunch of threads on the WERA board with complaints about the quality
fit, finish, and just overall quality isn't that good, still workable but most racers seem to lean towards spending the little extra money on armour bodies or something similar (sharkskinz is amazing stuff but probably the most expensive)

I guess they're paying Larry Pegram a lot of moolah.

don't get me wrong man, its not bad enough that I'd turn down a free set
hell I'm using a hotbodies tail section just cause I got it used for almost nothing, but the mounting points aren't right, the ones on the left side are about 1/2" farther apart than the right side, and the upper mounts are too far apart, so to bolt to the subframe I had to make some spacers and use a different bolt
I personally couldn't justify paying full price for hotbodies stuff though at least until they get their issues worked out
I will say that they do a lot to support the sport and their riders and I've heard of some cases where they've taken pieces back and replaced them but from what I've seen thats not the common practice
