Hi new member here all the way from Sweden :D
I have a -87 cbr 600 PC19 that I have modified to a streetfighter with for example Yamaha R6 tailpiece and much more.
I have som plans for the winter but I think that som research will come in handy before I start cutting the bike apart :P

Is there anyone who have put a rear wheel from an F2 on an F1? As you know the stock F1 tire is only 130mm wide and I´m sorry but I think it looks too much as a moped wheel ( I have a wider tire on my NSR 125cc :P ).

And also this is a long time projekt I have planned to do some time in the future but it would be really cool to fit an USD fork on my old bucket is there anyone who has done something like that on an F1 before?

Thanks
// Christian

( Sorry if there is too many writing errors:P )

hey man welcome to the forum, im also making my cbr a streetfighter, but probably with the stock rear wheel though, sorry i cant help you. if u know anyone with an f2 see if they will let you throw the wheel on to see if it fits, and if not maybe check the specs on a newer swingarm to see if that fits.

no the F2 tire specs are 160-60-17 the F1 is 130-90-17

I think that the F2  rim size is one inch wider but i'm notsure thats what I want to find out

okay, here's the skinny...

f1 rear is 3.5", f2 rear is 4.5"

f1 rear axle is 15mm OD, f2 rear axle is 17mm OD.

these measurements will also effect rim to swingarm spacing side to side, and brake caliper bracket spacing.

with that in mind, you can reslot the swingarm axle hole to accomodate 17mm axle bolt, use f2 rear brake caliper, and f2 wheel spacers. the spacers will have to be cut down narrower to fit between the swingarm, rim, and caliper bracket.

also, because the 160 is a lower profile tire (60 vs. 90), you will need to readjust the front forks up into the triple clamps to get the steering back to neutral.

voila, done!

Finally I found a F2 wheel for the right price so now it's gonna be a couple of interesting days in the garage

Check it out at http://www.freewebs.com/mrjaggu/projektdagboken.htm

i think i saw a lathe in your garage. do you have a lathe in your garage? if you do, you one lucky SOB! geez, if i had a lathe, my projects would be easier to do. you shouldn't have any problem turning down wheel spacers to make the F2 rim fit.

Yepp it's a old munktell lathe that We took from my grandfather when he retired his workshop, its old but it  gets the job done no questions asked :D

i did the conversion on my bike, but you ll need the entire rear swing arm assembly and brake caliper. if you try to just swap the rim, the chain side of the hub will need to be milled. the easy way is just grind the inner frame bolt bosses until the swing arm fits. the chain will be slightly off line (not enough to make a diff) but if you like, just shim your front sprocket with a small washer. the biggest problem was it lowers your bike by 1&1/2 inches, so you gotta hack your stand. for the most part its a easy project.

Ok I have the brake caliper and the caliper bracket. But do I really need the entire swingarm?

How about some pics of your bike?

i dont have any picts to put up (to complicated for me, but it sure does improve the look from behind) anyway if you compare rims to each other the f2 is more offset on the left side (sprocket side) which when set into the f1 swing-arm puts the center wheel to the right. so with the f2 swing arm it is wider on the left allowing the the wheel to set center on the bike. i guess you can cut and widen the f1 swing arm with some fab work, and also weld a caliper support channel to the swing arm, or just use the f1 brake system if you keep the f1 swing arm (i believe the rotors are the same size). but anyhow i found it easier to just replace the swing arm assembly. there may be an alternate way to do the swap, but this is the only way i saw after many nights of staring at and mocking up the f2 rim to the f1 swing arm.

Well can't it be solwed by custom making new wheelspacers?

you can use a f2 swingarm if you so chose. but that 1.5" drop in the back makes the bike turn slow. it's like riding a chopper. if you lower the front to match, you will lose suspension travel especially under hard braking.

i would say take the f2 rim that you have and center it in the f1 swingarm and see how much space is left inbetween. if you are intent on using a f2 swingarm to use that rim, you should at the very least redo the shock mount bracket on the swingarm to match the one found on the f1. it is a difference of about 15mm in height if i recall correctly.

will definetly try to keep the f1 swingarm

that is good. at least you will only be losing rear height to tire profile and not to shock mount on swingarm. both added together is quite a huge amount. now instead of having to drop the front alot, you will only have to drop a little and still retain front and rear ride height balance.

with that handy lathe of yours, you should not have any issue making new wheel spacers if needed. good luck.

Looks good. I am about to put a new clutch in my f2 also. I have done a couple in 4 wheelers and dirt bikes. Looks like the exact same setup. However, I can't read anything on that site lol.

Small update, after much thinking and speculations I have decided that the F1 swingarm DONT fit i'ts just to narrow :(

thats why I have bought another one that I can cut apart to fit :)

i dont know if its to late,  but using a f2 swing arm is way easier.  all ya gotta do is a little grinding and the rest lines up. (easy money)

Allready boght it iand besides if I use a f2 swingarm the suspension will become ****ed up and I have allready spent a bundle of money to improve it. besides now I can custom make the extra swingarm into any shape I want, I was thinking about going moto gp style

sounds cool... see if you could post picts of swing arm when done. interested in seeing it.
