hi, i have a 2001 cbr f4i it has been sitting over 2 years, the bike sounds like it is running on 2 cylinders.I have replaced the spark plugs and the coils are giving the plugs spark. Is there something else that could be causing this problem. The bike ran fine the last time i rode it (over 2 years ago). The bike has about 6,000 miles on it with no engine mods.

thanks for your help,chad

So, the bike SOUNDS like its running on two cylinders or IS IT running on two cylinders? There is a difference. Start the bike and pull the plug wires off one at a time to check which cylinders are working. You might also want to do a compression test to see if the rings didnt sieze in the piston.

Let it reach full operating temp, have fresh motor oil then check compression, spark, and look for obstructions in the intake/ exhaust. I've even heard of people finding bird's nests in their bikes.

All of the above. Could be anything if it wasnt stored properly.

it wasnt stored properly, its really my friends bike.it sat outside about a year under a canopy and it was stored in a basement for about a year and a half.it for sure had bad gas in it but i drained it all out, even though there could still be some in the fuel system.

You prob have some gunk in the injectors. Before you tear into it you might try some seafoam in the gas...... let it run for a while, then let it sit for a day or two. Its gonna smoke, but don't worry about that, it'll go away when you get fresh/untreated gas back in it. I've tried other cleaners w/no luck at all, but the seafoam stuff really does work if you give it some soak time. Use about a 1/4 can in a full/almost full tank of gas. If the injector/s are stuck closed the cleaner may not get to em, but i've seen it work before. Worth $5 to give it a try anyway. If that doesn't work, pull the injectors out n soak em in 100% seafoam for a while. The stuff is flamable, but not as much as gas. Would let em sit outside tho, you don't want to be breathing it for very long..... will make your testicles fall off.

It was in the airbox. They obviously tunneled in through the intakes

injectors are gunked up from the old fuel that was sitting in the lines. purge the lines. clean the injectors and prime it again with new gas. should fire up just fine
