my friend was involved in a serious wreck this past friday, and he doesnt know what to do with the bike, he still owes about $9000 and he needs to pay it off. Should he scrap each part of the bike and sell it, or sell the bike as a whole? Im not sure how bad the bike is but the entire rear part of the bike broke off(exhaust, tailseat, fender). It is a 2005 cbrRR 600, its black with gold graphics. so if you have any helpful information please post or even if your interested in the bike PM me.

If he has to get the money himself selling the parts seperate will get him more money than the bike as a whole, but selling this way can take more time. People usually just want to get rid, which is why scrap merchants make so much money. e.g buy a whole wreck for 2k split it and sell the bits for a total of 4k

are they selling out because of this one incident? Tell them to sleep on it some. How did the wreck happen? If they are selling. part it out on eBay for more money sell the R6 locally. I will never look at a bike on eBay, too many scams.

If he sells parts off of it I need a tool kit and owners manual..

He owes $9K on a 600RR? He got screwed by the dealer. Parting out a wrecked 600RR just isn't gonna make a big dent in $9k but it'll net him more than selling it whole with a salvage title. If he had insurance on it he really needs to have them pay up.

i told my friends countless times that full coverage is the way to go, but they dont listen and now this happens he regrets it bad. For those that wanted to know what happen, we took school of for the day to visit colleges, on our way to UTSA, traveling down I-10 the traffic came to a hault, we all slammed on our brakes not to hit anyone, and my friend sped by at 120mph, he braked and stoppied, flipped over, and got smahed inbetween his bike and the truck in front of him, he broke his collar bone, pelvis, roadrash on knuckles and back, possible leg fractures, he is currently at University Hospital in ICU. They said he should pull through good and heal with no problems as they can see.

most underwriters require coverage for the term of a loan --- it sounds like there was no collision policy?

I've actually bought the last two bikes I have had off Ebay, with no problems what so ever, and even sold one with NO problems....... But I can say I really only look at ones that are within driving range to look at as well as meet the guy face to face....

I bought my 600RR all black for $8700 out the door and that was with no extra charges like freight and set up that most places charge. $9300 does sound a bit high. oh and i'm in la county.
