As for me, auto technician of 18 years. Although dabbling into the bike industry, put my resume around to see if i could get into a bike shop.

ton of engineers here.  reaper, stick with carpentry man.  Do you have any idea what a union carpenter makes?  At least as much as a mechanic, plus you'll probably have better benefits and a retirement program.

How are those C-17's working out?
 
I worked for Mcdonnell Douglas building the 17's back in the early 90's, built the first three test models and seven production. They are some amazing aircraft there.
 
Do you ever see the C-17 that is named ED (for Edwards airforce base) that was the first production plane? I spent many months working on that one for the inagurial flight.
