hey people,

I recently purchased an 03 600rr with a couple minor scratches on it.  The previous owner had dropped it in the driveway.  Fortunetly for me (unfortunetly for him) the bike landed on his leg/hip and took most of the blow breaking his hip in the process.  anyways, there are a few deep scratches in the plastic of the left hand mirror and a couple of scratches on the left fairing that covers about 1.5" by 1.5" area.  The scratches on the fairing are not deep and are mostly contained on one of the smaller decals.  They are not really noticable to anyone else unless they were really looking, but i know they are there and they drive me crazy. i was wondering if anyone had any tricks/ideas on how to fix these 2 problems. i was gonna try some sandpaper on the mirror, but i think that might make it worse?????   i also tried some touch up paint on the small scratches on the fairing but am not impressed with how it looks.    Im probably better off just buying a new mirror and a new decal..  any clues as to where i can purchase either of these things and roughly how much, i dont see it being all that expensive. thanks

if you buy a new mirror, chances are it will get slightly scratched again. i had scratches on my mirror from scraping against the brick of my house.  i wanted a new mirror too but a friend suggested a nail file. it blended the scratch in quite nicely.

Dont sandpaper the mirror. If you must, buy a used one in good con. They will get scraped somehow, mine do and not sure how, lol. Decals are hard to fix, pretty much impossible. Paint can be buffed, scratchout and waxed.

what decal?

heres a picture of the damage.  you cant really notice the scratches in the mirror from this pic, but they are quite deep.   i've circled the scratches on the decal and on the casing.

Just get some plain black vinyl to cover up the decal. I f you dont know where to get any, let m eknow I will send you a square. Then just cut it to go over a little on each side of the decal.

Engine cause. You can kinda get a paint match for that, or sand it to smooth it, then paint it black.

hey, thanks for the input, i'll keep my eyes peeled for some vinyl, not sure if i'll be able to find any though, as i live in the middle of no where.  I might take you up on your offer.
