Sprocket question

Does anyone know the amount of teeth on the front and rear sprocket of a stock Hurricane?
Would changing the ratio make big difference in acceleration? Could this make enough difference to wheelie?

oem/stock 15 front, 44 rear

if you are looking for acceleration, increase tooth count at rear.

if you are looking for outright speed, decrease tooth count at rear.

don't change the front to less teeth as this will cause the chain to curl more and may tighten at the top of the swingarm.

you can also up the tooth count a couple if you do not want to change the rear to gain more speed.

if you pay attention to what professional stunters run, they run huge rear sprockets (50+ teeth) to make it easier to do wheelies in a shorter distance.

you could wheelie in stock gearing, i'd take some practice, but you could do it. if mopeds can be wheelied, then old cbr's can be wheelied.

Does anyone know what type of chain/sprocket the stock hurricane has?
520 or 530 or something else

i dont understand; if the chain has 110 links, what makes it a 530? is that the length in mm/cm?

The thing i dont understand with sprocket conversions to wheelie is that wouldnt it just turn 2nd gear into what 1st used to be and 3rd into what second 2nd used to be etc.?
What gear(s) would the hurricane wheelie in with a 49 tooth sprocket?

It's the other way around, by increasing the teeth in the rear you actually raise your final drive ratio. The higher the number the faster the acceleration but the less top end. SO in muscle cars it would be like changing your rear end from a 3.11 to 4.44. Inversely;The lower the teeth or ratio, the higher the top end and lower the acceleration. So in going bigger on the rear sprocket your top speed in each gear actually decreases. A stock sprocket maxes at 55-58mph and a +3 sprocket at around 50-54mph.(I don't have one yet so I don't have exact numbers). So imagine 1 as like .75 gear and 2 as 1.75 gear. Now if you decrease your rear sprocket to like 40 it would go the other way and top speed in first would be more like 60-70mph. That is more like your post, were first goes to more like second and second more like third. I would not suggest this unless you plan on doing massive amounts of upgrades, turbo/nitrous, etc and plan on drag racing with more than 250hp.
On the wheelies it would depend on what your motor is putting out, your weight and the type of rubber your running on the bike(tires and thier stickiness), rear shock settings and driver skill. I know it makes it confusing, but if your bike is a good runner it would probably almost wheelie now and with the +5 sprocket mentioned probably in first and second gears easily.

as drakito says, you should be able to wheelie if the bike is a good runner.

once the front is up, all you have to do is maintain it. and you can shift while the front is up, just have to practice. it's not what gears the bike will wheelie in, it's how good your balance is.
