Since Honda is not willing to share any details about charging system (ACG) failures on the CBR1000rr, I am trying to get some information from those who have or have not had issues with the charging system. Your brief answers to the following questions would really help. Thanks for your help.
  1. What year is your CBR1000rr?
  2. Have you had any issues with the charging system (i.e. battery, stator, rectifier, etc.) on the bike?
  3. Where do you do most (over 50%) of your riding (local or highway)?
  4. At what RPM do you do most of your riding (over 50% of the time)?
  5. Approximately what percentage of your riding is done at 5000 RPM or over?

Unless you have owned a Ducati with a 2 phase charging system there are no worries.  2 bikes 4 regulators and only 18K miles between the both of them.

Thanks MgA_ODEN:

I have couple of follow up questions:
  1. When I am going about 75-80 mph, in 6th gear, I believe my bike is at around 5000 RPM. Do you ride in a lower gear to get over 5000RPM when you ride on the highway at legal speeds?
  2. Have you ever replaced your battery on the CBR?

  2. Have you ever replaced your battery on the CBR? No , every time it gets parked it gets pluged into a Battery Tender

Do you have a special set up to access the battery when plugging into a battery tender or do you take the seat off every time?

That looks niffty. I couldn't imagine you removing your seat after every ride. What kind of connector is that? Where did you get it? More photos?

That's perfect. Thanks for the info. By the way, have you ever checked the resistance on your stator? The manual says it should be anywhere from 0.1 to 1.0 Ohms.

1. 2004 CBR1000RR
2. 13,000 miles on origonal batery. no problems.
3. both, lot of city, and lots of highway
4. 5k rpm or below. depends on how i feel. i live to hear my exhaust so i rev lots.
5. about 40% i'd say.

I put lots of miles on it sense i bought it. it had around 6200 miles on it when i bought it in last november. Man how they rack up quick. lots of trips from pittsburgh to philly. and lots of trips from Rome, GA to Griffin, GA 130mi one way. 16,000 mile service soon. expensive.
